Applying within the UK for (FLR) M
« on: March 29, 2017, 08:20:21 PM »
-Hello

I am on a fiance visa and applying from within the UK as I have been living with my hubby for the past 5 months now. Just needing some help as I see to apply for a UK Visa (FLR) M the uk.gov site has two different pages for one the application/book appointment and than one for the healthcare surcharge is that correct? Just making sure before all is paid. Do I also just print out all the application papers and fill out and bring with me. What are all the applications that I need? Thanks for any and all help :)

I'm assuming you are applying in person?

If so, then you pay everything together (visa fee, appointment fee and healthcare surcharge) when you book your appointment.

From the healthcare surcharge webpages:
Quote

4. Pay the healthcare surcharge
If you’re making an immigration application online you pay the healthcare surcharge as part of the application process. You must complete the payment and return to the online immigration application in less than 30 minutes.

If you’re making an immigration application at a premium service centre, you pay the surcharge when you book an appointment.

If you’re making an immigration application by post you must pay the healthcare surcharge before you complete your application.

The application form you need is here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-to-extend-stay-in-the-uk-as-a-partner-form-flrm

You print it, fill it out and then bring it to your appointment with all your supporting documents.

The supporting documents you need are basically the same as for the fiance visa, but instead of proof of regular communication and plans to marry, you include your marriage certificate and evidence of living together in the UK (details are on the application form)

So, the main documents you will need (this may not be all of them - check the application form for details):
- your passport
- his passport
- 2 passport photos of you
- 1 passport photo of him
- marriage certificate
- updated financial requirement documents (bank statements, payslips, new letter from employer, job contract, P60)
- updated accommodation documents (tenancy agreement or proof of homeownership, plus permission from the landlord/homeowner to live there)
- relationship evidence in the form of 6 pieces of mail addressed to both of you at the same address (see application form for details and what to do if you don't have enough mail yet)

Yes.  And they'll lie and tell you the photo looks good.   ;)

Someone else had this issue as well... I think it might be a glitch with the booking system, because there should be plenty of appointments available.

Have you tried a different premium centre to see if you can book an appointment there?

If not, you could try either emailing their help service for online technical problems:
https://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi/technical-problems-when-applying-online

Or you could maybe try calling them on the number for booking for groups of more than 11 people: 0300 123 2241

If you really cannot book an appointment, you may just have to apply by post instead.

Why would you need to leave for the US before it expires?

If you really can't make an appointment, then instead you can just send your application by post - it just needs to be put in the mail before your current visa expires and your fiance visa status will be extended until it has been processed. It can take up to 8 weeks to be processed, but it would save you £500 in premium fees by doing it that way.

There should be no reason at all for you to have to return to the US.

Yep. You send them the receipt/email and the form has a place you write the number in.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.
