Overall, I don't think more bombs is going to help solve anything in Syria, but this is not so bad.  The Russians didn't get killed and a point was made. 
The only thing that worries me is that anyone who pays Syria the slightest attention has seen all this before.  Trump watches the news and is SHOCKED that Assad is a bad guy and starts bombing immediately.  Doesn't bode well for the future.

Trump in 2013 repeatedly told the Obama administration to not attack Syria after the last chemical attack.

Assad probably felt confident that with Trump's past views and with Russia now heavily involved that he could again resort to using chemical weapons.

I have no idea on how this is going develop.
