CRBA, passport & social security applications done!
« on: April 11, 2017, 07:37:39 PM »
Hi Everyone
Today we went to register our son at the US Embassy in London, applied for his passport and social security number
Thanks to everyone that helped answer my questions. For residency proof we used an old
passport and my husbands honourable discharge paperwork
Our appointment was at 8am, we arrived at the embassy at about 7.30 and got in after a very short queue. We bought our return envelope at the reception type desk and was given a number, once upstairs we handed over our documents, paid the fee the waited to be called up. We were very lucky as called up 2nd, they asked my husband (USC) a few questions, we signed off the paperwork and were out of the embassy by 8.40. Very quick and painless!

That is very quick.

What fees did you pay overall? Did you pay with cash?

What is the return envelope that I've read a few threads mentioning?

It's was super quick we were very happy!

Overall we paid $205 which was split as $100 for the birth certificate and $105 for the passport. We paid with our debit card, I didn't notice if you could use cash.

The return envelope is to have the passport and birth certificate sent to you via DX courier, it cost £8.80 and was the cheapest option.

Congrats on your impending fatherhood! Our little one is now 12 weeks old and it's truly an amazing experience

Congrats on the little one - and on getting him fully legal! Our little boy is 4 weeks old and we're having a lot of fun with him, but finding it also hard work, as you no doubt are too.
