Taxes /savings in the UK

Hi all Im new to the group. Both me and hubby are planning on moving to the uk in the next couple of years. If hubby gets a job in the UK or decides to work for himself, will he have to pay taxes to the IRS as well as UK tax? Also we are thinking of applying for his visa using the savings route but from what Im reading he will have to declare the as savings even when we are in the UK. Does anybody know if we will have to pay tax to the IRS on the savings?

We need a bit more info. What citizenship(s) do you and your hubby hold?

First, hubby: if he is earning income whilst resident in the UK, he will have to pay tax to HMRC (the UK IRS). As for the IRS, the US will tax all US citizens no matter where the income was earned. So, he will file a tax return to the UK as it has primary taxing authority, and to the US because it has citizenship based taxation. That includes all earnings, including savings, from everywhere (US and UK).

As a UKC (and not a USC), do you have a green card for the US? If so, how long have you been permanently resident in the US and do you intend to keep the green card when you return to the UK?
