WHAT?! Omg I hope mine doesn't get more held up because of that. They told me I'd hear back from escalation 15 days max. The previous  call center was decent and they had totally different timelines.

FINALLY have answers....just as I thought, my passport is LOST!!!!

My MP asst was finally able to talk with someone over at the Home office. They said the delay is that they are looking for my passport still. MP says this is absolutely unacceptable and is going to push for a full refund for me at this point. My actual MP (not assistant) is taking it further and talking to a minister to get it all sorted out. But I'm assuming it is an approval because they said they would need me to get a replacement passport and send it back to them for them to process. They want me to give it a few more days to see if the manager can get his hands on it but I don't see how after four weeks they still arent able to find it! And after spending so much money to call them they still have no answers. This is absolutely unbelievable!

I hope you successfully get your refund. It seems to be in chaos there. Relieved for you that you finally have an answer, but the answer as the MP says is just completely unacceptable - both to have lost it, and to have left you with no information in distress. So wrong. We are bracing for similar information.

I'm glad that you have some answers and someone on your side!  This has happened a couple of other times that I know of and people have successfully received a refund for all the expenses for the new passport.  I hope your MP is able to press for more for you!

I'm glad you've gotten some news; but oh my goodness, that's terrible! I do hope they get you the full refund, and your MP lights a fire under Sheffield's butt.

Do you know if they reimburse expedited ones or do we have to wait the normal processing times for a new passport?
The fact that they have kept me in the dark for this long after all of my calls is absolutely disgusting

I don't know for certain but I imagine that you submit your receipt for reimbursement, therefore they would reimburse for the expedited passport.  Not 100% sure though.  I really can't imagine they would argue the additional cost though!

This is a bit like getting a bad diagnosis I would guess, it's not what you want to hear but now you know, you can take care of it!

I'm really glad that things are finally moving in the right direction now.  :)

Haha that's a great analogy!

I'm hoping it goes quickly from here. It just sucks knowing something was wrong for so long and being constantly dismissed.

It's really disappointing that they hid behind a processing time limit instead of owning up to it and contacting you.

That's why it's such a good thing that you got on the case right away as soon as you realized something was wrong. If you hadn't, you'd still be waiting now.

Well-in fairness I had been on their case for 4 weeks but they wouldn't help me until the MP was finally able to get in touch w someone today. They STILL wont own up and tell me it's lost. MP is pressing them so we can speed things up. Totally disgraceful-I've been trying to rectify this for weeks to no avail

Unfortunately the timing was especially bad with no parliament for several weeks!
