Spouse Visa Application Question
« on: May 31, 2017, 01:22:02 AM »
So I've already submitted my application but I'm looking back on it now for the 8 millionth time and I'm looking at Part 3 Family Details
First it asks for your spouses details then it asks for
Father and Mother Details....I put my spouse's Father and Mother's information down there. I'm afraid that I've done this wrong and was supposed to put my own parents information down...can anyone give me some insight here??

Thank you!

If that's the question I'm thinking of, it is indeed your mom and dad's info. I think it only matters so they can see you don't indeed qualify for UK citizenship by ancestry. So, presumably, your spouse's parents are UK citizens...I'm not sure what will happen then.

That's what I thought -- I put down my own parents' information.

OP, hopefully they will ask you to clarify, since it will surely look like you are confused and not secretly your spouse's sibling. :)

I'd guess they'd ask why she isn't applying for UK citizenship based on UK citizen parents. I guess we'll see.

Yup guess it's too late now, I really hope that they just email me and ask. It'll be a pretty pricey mistake if that's the case.

Nonmerci please let me know how it goes for you! I didn't do priority so mine will take a bit longer, so your decision outcome could really help me out!

Also I saw that you met in Glasgow, is your spouse a Glaswegian??...Mine is!

Yeah, no point in worrying about it. If they ask for an appendix and then give early approval to those people, maybe they'll contact you and let you fix it. Can only hope!

He is from East Ayrshire, actually, but he lives in Glasgow. :) Are you also heading there?

ETA: But I didn't put down my sponsors' parents, if that's what you meant by let you know -- my own American parents! Still, I agree with AV, and don't think you should worry about it.

Oh quite close then! Yes I will also be heading to Glasgow as well, I went to school there and loved it. We have a house now there (in Kelvinside) so I can't wait to be getting back!

It's a lovely city. I can't wait to spend the summer there (hopefully).

I honestly don't think that it will matter one way or the other. The form is confusing and ambiguous from that point of view and I'm sure people fill in the incorrect family information regularly but being contacted to clarify parents' details is not something that I've read about. And being refused for that is not going to happen, so I think they will just ignore it.  :)
Don't worry.  :)

The question won't even be looked at and will NOT affect the application.  Don't lose any sleep!   :)

I doubt it because even if they do look at it, they'll see that they have the same surname as the UK sponsor and will probably realise it's the wrong set of parents.

Also, it wouldn't be 'applying for Ancestry citizenship' because that's not a thing. If her parents were actually British (born in the UK), she would already be British anyway and would just need to apply for a UK passport.
