visa application questions
« on: June 04, 2017, 03:30:10 AM »
My husband and I have been married 29 years.  We've lived in the US for the past 26. He has UK and US citizenship and so does our daughter.  He has a job offer in the UK but will not start the job until August.  The pay is  more than the amount needed for me to apply for a spouse visa.  I had a few questions.

1) How can we submit pay stubs if he hasn't started yet?
2) When you apply online do they give you a date for biometrics or do you choose it? It looks like its always a week or two after the application.
3) Do you pay the full visa fee when you submit the online application?

I cannot apply online yet because we are going to visit next week for 2 weeks and I need my passport.  I ask about paying the fee because if, for various reasons, we decide not to move I don't want to lose my fee.  I was thinking about possibly applying online before my trip if the biometrics appointment could be when I get back.

Thanks!

The only way you can all move over together with him starting a new job is if his previous job in the U.S. meets the income requirements as well -- then you send the payslips from THAT job, plus the info about the new job.

You choose your biometrics date, it's not assigned.

Thanks that's a relief.  Yes, his current job definitely qualifies.  He will be taking a huge pay cut for us to move over.  And do you pay the full visa fee when completing the online application?

1- If he has made more than 18.6k gbp equivalent in the last 12 months in the US and has a job offer for that amount or more in the UK then you don't need to show any UK payslips, just the US ones and corresponding bank statements and the offer for the UK job.

2- You choose the date after you have completed and paid for the online application. You should be able to get an appointment within a few days.

3- Yes, you pay the whole visa fee at the time of submitting the online application.
You will also have to pay the IHS as part of the process.
You will then have to make arrangements for shipping and pay priority service if you choose to use it (recommended currently due to long waiting times). You can do both here. https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/usa/user_pay_services.html

Don't apply before your trip. Wait until you get back and do the whole process then.
It won't shorten your wait any because they can't start processing until your package arrives in Sheffield.
