It is too dark for me. There should be some ray of hope, a thread of a lifeline.

Bojack Horseman is VERY meta I must admit.
Fullmetal Alchemist is an old favorite too but can pull on your heartstrings as well. Not as much as BJH though, haha. If you're interested in something lighter in mood, or comedy wise then I've always loved
The IT Crowd or
Black Books.
I tried so hard to like She-Ra but it just didn't happen.
Though I did enjoy the Dragon Prince (by the guys who did avatar) and Hilda was really good too.

I've been thinking about watching the old She-Ra's to give more of a comparison. I feel that way about The Office sometimes. The Dragon Prince was really good! I found out about it by trying to research if there was going to ever be more Avatar. I'm looking forward to the second season. Hilda looked interesting--I may check into that
