Anyone up to anything?

I volunteered at my daughters nursery this morning.  We painted flags and played outside.  My daughter had a meltdown when I left (cue mom-guilt).

I then wento Costco and bought hot dogs, chicken drumsticks, and corn on the cob for dinner (I'll also make BBQ baked beans).

This year during bonfire season, I need to buy some sparklers to set aside for the 4th.

My daughter is decked out in Stars and Stripes.  I'll try to get a photo of the kiddos in their 4th gear later.

The nursery is all decorated with american flags.  They do the same for Thanksgiving.  They are EXCELLENT at celebrating any and all holidays celebrated by children attending.  One of the many reasons I love her nursery!

They asked me to come in last year for Thanksgiving and today.  They are having BBQ for lunch too!

They will have a parent come in for Diwali, etc., as well.   :D

We went to Five Guys to get a decent hotdog and then wandered around town for a bit before getting a few beers (yay day drinking!). That was about the extent of my celebration  ;)

Oh, and I broke out my American and Ohio flags just to harass the husband.  ;D

I'm making snickerdoodles and peanut butter cookies today. I made the batter for both this morning and chilled it until an hour ago when I rolled it into balls. It's back in the fridge now, ready for a quick bake. I'll bake some tonight and a few more tomorrow to take into an annual rounders match I've got with some work colleagues on Thursday.

Happy 4th. Nice to post it for some Americans as none of my British acquaintances wished me a happy 4th today. Haha

Surprisingly, I had a loooot of people wish me Happy 4th. I had a guy I worked with in Scotland a few years ago message me on our company's work to say "Happy 4th of July" in multiple languages lol. I think they felt it was a bigger deal to me than it is in actuality! Very sweet gestures, but I was just like "Oh yeah! It's the fourth....thanks! can I take the day off now?" lol

I ended up changing our dinner plans last minute from stir fry to BBQ because it was glorious out and I felt we needed a good BBQ.

That's an amazing nursery.

Our primary still asks (for the billionth time) if I'm Canadian because they have a teacher from Canada.

haha this is nothing new for me. coworkers and I always take the piss out of each other (me for being American...most of them for being English....one of them for people Polish --- we like to pretend we don't understand them because we can't speak "English" -- and another for being Spanish). We are a very mixed bag haha

I actually did take the day of and went to the beach with a friend:

The kids weren't so happy that they had to go to school.

It was a cracking day, did 24 miles in my buggy.
