Landlady letter FLR (M)
« on: November 20, 2017, 11:11:42 AM »
Hey :)

Just a quick question regarding accommodation, I am currently a permitted occupier in our flat and the tenancy agreement specifies that with my name as well.

We are about to ask our landlady for a letter confirming the tenancy agreement and that I (the wife) am a permitted occupier in this flat.

Just wondering if this letter should include any specific details other than our names/the date we moved in and so on?

thanks :)

If your name is on the tenancy agreement, you do not need a letter from the landlady at all.

The only reason for including a letter is if you are NOT on the tenancy agreement (usually because you don't have a visa to live in the UK yet and therefore cannot be on the tenancy) and you need to provide a letter of permission from the landlord that you can live there and you can be added to the tenancy once you have your visa.

Oh ok! I figured it would have been safer to get a letter since I am not a tenant but only a permitted occupier and it only states that on the 5th page of the tenancy agreement.

It's up to you then.

All you need to show is that you have permission to live there - so if you are named as a 'permitted occupier', then that means you have permission.

If you'd rather include a letter you can, though - it just needs to state that you have permission to live in the property.

Yeah true, thank you so much.

I might get it just in case they ask for it :)
