Three weeks and counting... Still no decision email from Sheffield. Looks fairly certain I'll be entering as a tourist on this occasion afterall. I'll have to return to the UK for my BRP in a few weeks, assuming I eventually get approved.

This is terrible service from UKVI. For the amount they charge, you ought to get a decision within a couple of days :(

I have a question for the experts on a separate but related matter... As I posted on the job forum, I've been looking for work remotely. I fortunately have a couple of pending interview requests. One of these firms has asked me to interview on Jan 2 or 3, whilst I'll still be in the UK. It's a great opportunity with a multinational firm that has a big presence in the US & UK so it's ideal and I've said yes. Obviously any job offer would be contingent on the visa. Is this ok to do, given that I'll technically be in the country as a tourist? Perhaps I'm overthinking this?

You can interview as a tourist but you cannot physically start working until you have your visa.

@FLgator86 - Ugh! I'm so sorry man! I'll be thinking of/fretting for you two and hoping you get through with no issues at all!

I can't believe it's Christmas already and still no word. We've just had to say some very sad goodbyes to the oncology team that treated our son. Our children have also said their goodbyes to very well loved teachers, classmates, and friends. If we have to do it all over, it will be awful!

On a related note, I've avoided mentioning here that our primary reason for being in a rush and choosing the gold service was to try and sort continuation of care for our 7 year old who's just completed over 3 years of cancer treatment. We handed over all that money, not because we had it to spare (who does?), but because we can't have him missing anything he needs and it's all a bit unknown for us over there. We've gone round in circles trying to figure out moving them over first or getting my passport back and going, but what if I'm refused? We are totally stuck. I'm horrified at the thought of more people paying such a steep price hoping to get over quickly and getting nothing but more to worry about.  >:(

Oh Dani, what a massive weight on your shoulders.

I would go on and move the kids and have the continuity of care.  You WONT be refused.  And absolute worst case scenario, we will help you address why the application was refused and we'll help you resubmit an application that will tick all the boxes (which I think ksand did the first time anyways so you have NOTHING to worry about).

@Dani1983 hearing your circumstances makes me that much more upset with this whole process. I'm so sorry they've left your family in limbo like this. Hoping it won't be too much longer before we hear back.

Maybe they'll send off a whole batch of approvals tomorrow, just ahead of Christmas?  [smiley=antlers.gif]

Best wishes to you and your family!

So sorry Dani, that's a huge additional burden of worry.  Do you have a GP in the UK? I'd get in touch with the one you plan to use to see if they have any advice for you or can put your mind at rest at least in terms of continuity of care for when you get there. It may not come to much but at least you'd be doing something.

Possibly the last decision this side of Christmas. Our decision email arrived on Monday and when we received the package today it was an approval. Will thankfully be able to spend Christmas together in England.

Thanks for people's help and advice earlier on.
