Correspondence doc check for FLR (M) visa
« on: December 02, 2017, 07:15:14 PM »
Hi all,

my wife and I are doing final checks this weekend for our FLR (M) 2nd round after an initial 2.5 years. We have put together the following correspondence documents over the last 2.5 years, would really appreciate feedback that we've got this right!

5th May 2015       Jobcentre letter to my wife with her national insurance number

19th Nov 2015      A ground rent bill sent to myself

25th December 2015      Electricity bill to myself

2015/2016           P60 issued to my wife for the tax year ending 2016 with accompanying email from accountant in 2017

2016                    Council tax bill for 2015/2016 to myself and my wife for a previous property with the new property also on it, it's not back dated but its the best we have, they are unable to back date it - issued 26th October 2017

6th July 2016       Mortgage correspondence to myself and my wife

20th July 2016      Letter correspondence to myself and my wife from solicitor

21st July 2016       Life insurance cover correspondence to myself and my wife

08/2016 (not date specific)  Annual tax summary to my wife

5th October 2016   Water bill correspondence to myself and my wife

January 2017 (not date specific)   Mortgage statement to myself and my wife

20th September 2017 water bill to myself and my wife

I think what we've supplied is sufficient but it would be great if one of you could confirm/advise? The only thing I'm concerned about is the council tax bill not being backdated to 016 and if we have to submit any more singular correspondence bills (i.e. to each of us) in that year or does what we have suffice?

Thanks so much, I appreciate it!

Okay, you only need 6 documents with each name on, approximately 4 months apart and only from the last 2 years.

So, from the list you've given above, you have:

Nov 2015
1. You: 19th Nov 2015      A ground rent bill sent to myself
1. Your wife: ?

March 2016
2. You: ?
2. Your wife: P60 April 2016 (though not ideal as it should be something from March)

July 2016
3. Joint: 6th July 2016       Mortgage correspondence to myself and my wife

Nov 2016
4. Joint: 5th October 2016   Water bill correspondence to myself and my wife (ideally you want something from November, not early October)

March 2017
5. Joint: 5th April 2017          Water bill to myself and my wife

July 2017
6. You: ?
6. Your wife: ?

(Nov 2017 - extra one)
7. Council tax bill for 2015/2016  - issued 26th October 2017 (again, ideally should be from November)

So, you are currently missing documents from the following months:

You:
March 2016
July 2017

Your wife:
Nov 2015
July 2017

Also, if you are using separate documents for one month, they should be dated as close together as possible.

For example if your November 2015 document was issued on the 19th, you'll need a document for your wife dated as close to Nov 19th as possible. And if your wife's 2016 P60 was issued on April 5th 2016, you'll want something from you dated as close to April 5th 2016 as possible.

Where does it say they need to be 4 months apart? There is no suggestion of that on the guidance notes nor on the form.

The guidance states:

The dates of the items of correspondence should be spread evenly over the whole period you are relying on. They should be from at least 3 different sources. If you do not have enough items in your joint names, you may also provide items addressed to each of you individually if they show the same address for both of you.

6 documents in each name spread EVENLY over the last 24 months = 1 document for each 4-month period (with 4 months between each one)
