Monterrey Jack - found the good stuff in Glasgow
« on: December 17, 2017, 03:34:41 PM »
Our local Waitrose has Monterrey Jack, that tastes like Monterrey Jack!  We just made nachos and they were great. It's on sale two packs for three pounds, which is a bit steep considering there isn't much in each pack, but the flavor is authentic. (We've had some from Lupe P's, but it was pretty flavorless.) This is a lovely surprise!

You can also try Lidl. I bought some sliced Monterey Jack at mine.

Yes, I'm in Central Scotland. I'm on foot so I have to walk nearly a mile to my Lidl (backpack for heavy food stuffs) and I usually don't go very often because who feels like walking with heavy grocery bags? Lol

I usually stick to Tesco that is just down the street from me.

My Waitrose only has Monterey Jack in packs of 5 slices.  Great for sandwiches, but I'd prefer a block I could grate.

Yeah, it's flipping expensive. But it's the first one I've tasted here that actually tastes like the real deal.  Is easy to put on nachos this way, tho!  ;D

Maybe I bought it at Waitrose and not Lidl. Lol.

Is it a pack of 5 in an orange package?

Ok yes, that's the one I bought. I was thinking I bought it at Lidl because I went there to find provolone cheese that day but they didn't have it.
