Diaper testing?
« on: December 07, 2004, 03:51:21 PM »
Anyone do this before? I was contacted a few days after my son was born in June. I was never able to make the appointment for the intro meeting. I am going today and was wondering if anyone has any pros or cons for it. I get paid for doing it, I was told around $15 an hour for two hours "work". Thanks.

I did this in the States--- didnt have to go to a meeting just agreed to use the diapers they sent me and fill out a questionaire at the end. Got free diapers for 3 weeks and a small fee-- I think maybe about $10 don't remember the exact amount.

Well, I went to the intro meeting and what is to be done is:

I will be called one week before the test time. Told where to go, when and how long it will take. IN my area they have 6 different sites. One is a Chucky Cheese type place for kids in pull-ups. They put one on and play for 1 1/2 hours.

I will than take my son into see the nurse who is conducting the test. They will place a diaper on him. They will test wear, amount it will hold and other things depending on the test. I will than take him out to the waiting room and every 10-15 minutes he will be checked.

I will than get paid by mail in 2 weeks from the test date.

Today for watching a 10 minute video I made $25.

You will not know what brand you will be testing. But it seems pretty easy. They also have at home tests. I will wait and see how the first session goes, but it all seems good.

I used to work in market research and this was pretty standard for testing new products or testing improvements on products. You know how commercials say 90% of moms tested preferred ________ (whatever product) to other brands? That's where they get all that. Or they say "Tests show Brand A Diapers are 50% more absorbant than Brand B."

In most situations these tests are conducted very professionally and as safe as possible. Especially on the tests involving children. The money is offered as an incentive to get people to participate and to comp your time and the tests are usually set up where your opinions couldn't be swayed by the money your paid. Usually you won't even know what brand products you're using.

I'd go for it. ;) :P
