Received emails
« on: January 02, 2018, 03:27:56 PM »
Does Sheffield always send a received email? Our applications we're delivered on Friday the 29th and with the holidays I didn't expect one then. I realize I'm likely being just a tad impatient, but we haven't received a confirmation email today either. I'm getting concerned it was lost once it hit their dock. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks so much!

Most people get an email, but not everyone does... sometimes they get missed. But as long as you know it was delivered, your visa will be processed. I've never heard of them losing an application after it was delivered.

However, it can a few days to log the applications and send the emails, so it's unlikely you would have received an email yet anyway. It's only been 1 business day since your application arrived... and I'm not sure how many people will have been working in Sheffield last week.

I'd say you'll probably get an email sometime this week, maybe next week.

I just have to say ksand24, you are correct. My anxiety was just too much so I bit the bullet and called to just confirm they have received the applications. I had horrible thoughts of some guy losing it. (I know, irrational!) But they did confirm that both mine and my son's applications and documents have been received and "awaiting a decision". I just needed that confirmation from them that they got it. The nice lady I spoke to said she has no idea why some people get confirmation emails and other don't. So fraustrating.

You know that number goes to a random call centre nowhere near Sheffield, though, right? They have no physical access to your application - all they can do is type your information into their computer system and read off what it says.

You already know that your application was received because it was signed for in Sheffield. Therefore, they have it, and it won't be lost.

I know... I know. But I do feel slightly better having them confirm they have it. I'm a mess at the moment about it all.  ???

Seriously, there's nothing to be worried about. They have your package and the visa will be processed, so you just have to wait now.... and as hard as it might be, try to take your mind off it.

You're only 1 business day in so far, and it's the middle of the Christmas holidays, so it would be unusual for you to have received an email yet anyway. Did you pay for priority processing?

Yes priority processing on both mine and my son's application. We also filed the Armed forces amendment with it. I'm just so worried that we spent all this money and all the documents are there but we will get refused on one stupid mistake. Just like everyone else I just want to get to my husband. Patience isn't my strongest attribute. But I really am trying. Lol

The good news is that that’s completely normal, we all have that worry! Hang in there!  :)

Hi Southernbetty, I applied priority and my documents were delivered and signed for in Sheffield on the 29th as well, and I haven't received a confirmation email either. I did receive an email from Sheffield the day after I submitted the online application, and my understanding is that is probably the only communication I'll get from UKVI until the "Decision made" email. Hang in there!
Applied from: USA
Submitted online application (priority, fiance): 12/21/2017
Biometrics appointment: 12/26/2017
Package mailed to Sheffield: 12/27/2017
Received in Sheffield: 12/29/2017
"Decision made" e-mail received: 1/8/2018
Documents returned: 1/10/2018 - Approved!

I actually received the confirmation of receipt email just the other day. I've been swamped so I haven't had a chance to get on here. I knew this process would be stressful but I had no idea how stressful. I thought selling my house was rough. Looks like we are on the same time frame Midori87. Good luck to you!! I hope we both get approvals soon!!!
