UP visa fasttrack application questions
« on: December 11, 2004, 05:59:37 AM »
I have started the fasttrack application process for the unmarried partner's visa and have a few questions on some things I have to answer.

1. My partner does receive public funds (jobseekers) and it asks "Is your sponsor in receipt of public funds in the UK" Obviously I have to answer this yes but to will giving the details on this be a problem? He has to stay on benefits as that is how he is enrolled in college. It is a govt grant funded course and people on jobseekers must be on it. I don't live off his funds but want to make sure that that is clear. There isn't enough space to explain this fully. Anyone know how and what to do about this one?

2. I have a co-sponsor on the application. She only gives us money when needed for small things as we have a small savings. The application asks "Do you or your sponsor receive income from other sources including friends or family." Should this be a yes then since it is not a regular occurance?

3. I have lived with my partner akin to marriage for the last 2 years except for the last 4 weeks as he is in school and won't be here until next week. The application asks "Do you and your Fiance/e, Spouse or Partner have lived together in a relationship like a marriage at any time (including since a wedding)" Should we give full details of when or where or just put the exact date we started living together?

I realise these questions are straightforward but my answers can be lengthy or simple. I don't want to give too much information as that is more processing time for them but I also don't want to give too little as that can seem like I am hiding something which is not the case. If anyone can help shed light on this so it will finally be done and I can save it and pay it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

When there's not enough space, put "Please see attached" or "Please see cover letter" or etc etc.

For question 3, put the dates and locations of where you lived together, and make references to which evidence supports which dates/locations.  Also the date when you first met - ideally that's some time before you started being UPs, but not always.

Tip:  also list when you took holidays together; it strengthens a SSUP application, but it certainly doesn't harm the other case.  For some reason, they like it.

Thanks for the tips Garry!!

I am glad they like holidays as we have taken 3 major ones in the last two years and I have tons of evidence. In fact, that is where the pictures of us are from too. This is starting to feel easier. I can't wait to get this thing and move back home to start the normal life we've both been waiting for for so long.
