FLR (M) Post Question and Checklist
« on: July 14, 2018, 03:06:15 PM »
Hello,

I will post the checklist I have on Monday on here (still gathering everything) but I would just like to know that since I will send the application by post, do you recommend the best way of how to send? I am quite nervous since I am sending my passports, marriage certificate, credit card information, and all of my husband's bank information.

Also, should we send copies  + originals of everything? Do we get these items back via post?

Lastly, they will contact me in regards to getting my biometric card right?

Thank you so much. I love this forum! :)

Hello,

I will post the checklist I have on Monday on here (still gathering everything) but I would just like to know that since I will send the application by post, do you recommend the best way of how to send? I am quite nervous since I am sending my passports, marriage certificate, credit card information, and all of my husband's bank information.

I would probably send by Royal Mail Special Delivery.

The documents and visa will be returned by Recorded Delivery UNLESS you include a pre-paid, Special Delivery envelope.

From the guidance notes:

Quote
11. Applying by post - the address
If you are applying by post, the address to which you must send an application on form FLR(M) is:
The Home Office
Leave to Remain - FLR(M)
PO Box 495
Durham
DH99 1WR

Posting it to any other address will not only delay your application but could make it invalid. This address is only to be used when sending your application. Please use the address given in part 15 for any other correspondence about your application.

If you use Recorded or Special Delivery, this will help us to record the receipt of your application. Make sure that you keep the Recorded or Special Delivery number.

We will return your passport(s) and other documents by Recorded Delivery. If you would like them to be returned by Special Delivery, you must provide a prepaid Special Delivery envelope which is large enough.

You will receive a letter of acknowledgement within a few days of your application being received, unless there is a problem concerning the payment of the fee. The validity of your application will then be checked and we shall contact you in writing if your application is invalid.

Quote
Also, should we send copies  + originals of everything? Do we get these items back via post?

Send originals of EVERYTHING, and send copies of all originals you wish to be returned to you.

As above, you will receive everything back by post (recorded or special delivery).

Your BRP will be sent separately - I think by DX courier:

Lastly, they will contact me in regards to getting my biometric card right?

Your biometrics card is your visa, so you won't get that until after the visa has been issued.

However,  once your applications has been received, they will send you a letter inviting you to give biometrics at a local Post Office. You will need to take the letter with you to the Post Office, and pay £19.20 when you get there to give your biometrics.

Good Evening,

I just would like to verify that I have everything all set to send tomorrow:

1. FLRM application + Payment form
2. Passport photos - I have two of mine and one of my husband's - his is slightly smaller than mine but both valid passport photos taken at booths. Does he need to submit a bigger one like mine?
3. Passports - I have and will send in two since moving to the UK (new one is with my new surname, old one with my marriage visa)
4. Copy of my husband's passport of ALL pages- is it okay to submit one copy of it? Or should make two just in case? Or just the first page as a second copy?
5. Copy of his residence permit and driver's licence
6. Financial Requirements - 6 months of original bank statements and 6 months payslips plus copies, letter from his employer, P60
7.  Marriage certificate plus copy
8. Tenancy agreement and signed letter from Property manager allowing me to live in our flat on the basis of approved visa
9. Correspondence - 3 gas/electric bills, 1 water bill, 1 TV licence in Shawn's name, 2 council tax bills in joint name status, and 2 loan payment bills in my name (previous surname), I wrote a letter to explain the reason we don't have as they request (ie: I am unable to open a bank account or have an NI number until I am able to work here, Shawn moved into the flat 1 December and I didn't arrive until end of February, we have provided everything we can to prove we both live here and legally)
10. Section 14 - signatures of both (NA to Section 15)
11. Am I missing anything? Would it be helpful to include wedding photos and/or written correspondence to one another?

We have flights to the USA from 22 Sept - 5 October, should I include this separately to show when we would need my passport back? Is there a nice, professional way to request this?

Thank you so so much! This forum has helped immensely.

I don't think so. They just need to have your full name on the back of yours, and his full name on the back of his.

Just submit one copy.

You do not need to include his driving licence, so you can take it out.

Has your name been added to the tenancy yet? If so, you don't need the letter. If not, you do need the letter.

I would include 1 photo of you together, just for completeness, but you do not need any correspondence to each other, because you live together now and can correspond in person. Your bills/documents in each name are your proof of relationship now.

You could mention it in a cover letter, but I doubt it will make a difference... they likely won't process it any faster than if you didn't need to travel anywhere - unless the travel is an emergency and you can claim compassionate circumstances (i.e. a family member on their death bed, or needing urgent medical care), it will likely take as long as it takes, regardless of your travel plans.

Lovely thank you so so much. Perfect!

And from what I have read on here and on the website, the processing time is 6-8 weeks but could even be 5-6?

I really appreciate it.

The service standards target time is 8 weeks, however a few people in the last few months have received their visas in 5-6 weeks.

FLR(M) processing has been pretty standard at 8 weeks for the last 3 or 4 years... there was a time though that it could take anywhere from 4 weeks to about 4-6 months, and back in 2012, the FLR(M) processing times actually stretched to 10-13 months. However, that was due to big UKVI staff cuts right before the immigration rules changed on July 9th 2012, which meant a massive backlog developed as everyone rushed to apply before July 9th... they didn't have enough staff to cope with it and so processing times went crazy. Luckily, we haven't seen that happen again since!

And my name is not on the tenancy agreement yet, so I will add that.

Add what? You have everything you need already.

I was just saying that if your name is on the tenancy, then you don't need the landlord letter.

Great to know.

Oh sorry, I just Ill add it (or keep) the tenancy letter in the forms to send. I will send it via post tomorrow morning - thanks so much for everything and your very quick and helpful responses always.

For Section 14:
- Page 67: you sign
- Page 68: he ONLY signs if any of the bank statements or utility bills you are including are in both your names. If they aren’t, he does not sign
- Page 69: neither of you sign

Excellent.

His bank statements are official but the same as online... do we still need a letter from the bank? We did the same thing for the Marriage Visa and all was okay....

If they were sent to him in the post, or they were printed by the bank (and state 'printed in branch' on them), then they do not need to be stamped.

If he printed them at home from online banking, then they do need to be stamped.

Okay... It seems we have just one that is not from the mail, which was printed online - one out of six statements (last 6 months).  However, the latest statement I have of his was from May 11 - June 11. Should we wait for the July statement to keep it within 28 days of the application?

Okay, so that 1 statement must be stamped/signed by the bank on every single page.

Yes, you must. If you don't, your visa will be refused, because the statement is more than 28 days old.

In order to have been able to use the June 11th statement as the last statements, you MUST have applied by 9th July 2018 at the very latest.

If it's going to take a while to get the next statement, you should be able to just go into the bank and ask for them to print a partial statement up to today's date.
