Provisional license-what to send
« on: July 17, 2018, 09:57:16 AM »
I applied online and paid for a provisional license and they sent me a form to fill out and send back in with a passport photo. On the form, it says to send my BRP. Do I send just the brp or do I need to send my passport as well?

I got my provisional license 2 weeks ago too. I’ve been studying for the theory & hazard perception. Then in the evenings i take the car out for a spin by myself because my husband drives me crazy when he rides along. Slowly, slowly i’m resisting the urge to veer to the left when another car is approaching me. Lol i’m bad at narrow 2-way roads.

By the way did anybody ever hear about having to wait 6 months before you get your provisional license while you’re on a spouse visa? I have a friend from the Philippines who moved to Aberdeen in April with her British husband & 2 children. She said she hasn’t applied for her provisional license because she read on DVLA website she had to wait 6 months.

It's mentioned by so many people, but it doesn't affect anyone who is here on a settlement/spouse visa. So go right ahead and get that baby ASAP.

You can save a bit of cash by applying for it online. You still have to fill out the paper form, but you save like £7? I thought it was worth it.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Send it signed for! That darn thing costs a lot of money to replace.

I went to the Post Office and asked for their cheapest service with tracking. She gave me 2 mailers for free (silver colored) to put everything inside. I wrote down my return address on one and she stuck the barcode on that and gave me the tracking #

I guess i didn’t read the instructions correctly because I also sent my passport along with my BRP. Plus the return mailer.
