USA Social Security payment to UK via Irish bank???
« on: July 17, 2018, 10:33:22 PM »
So, I was expecting my SS to start this month, but was told that I wouldn't get anything in July and a double payment in August to make up for that. I do seem to have a deposit in my checking account for approximately the amount I was expecting for July, but it says it's from Citibank Ireland. I have not received any info from SSA about it coming in from Ireland, so... does anyone who currently receives US soc security payments get a similar direct deposit?

I'm a little nervous because I've been dealing with setting up Irish bank accounts, so I want to make sure this isn't some kind of scam or anything....

Perfectly normal, and no need to panic. Ours has been exactly the same for years now. SSA use that as their transfer method, for whatever reason.

Expect regular payments to hit your bank overnight for deposit on the 3rd of each month, or the banking day prior if the 3rd is on a weekend or holiday.

Same as ours, I found it confusing at first but our payments have been made on 3rd of the month or earlier if a holiday or weekend since 2015 with no issues.

Works well...
