Hi! Just a quick thought...

My husband and I decided to skip the fiance visa and we had a small wedding at city hall in NYC. You can get married there no matter where you are from, and all you have to deal with is a 24-hour waiting period. It's also very affordable and nice. Super easy for mixed-nationality couples!

If you go this route or a similar one, please know that you don't need a visa to get married to a Brit in the US, but they should not say this is the purpose of their visit at the border, as they might be given a hard time - just say you're there for a fun visit. :)

I have to disagree with this. They will NOT give you a hard time because the US Embassy website specifically advises people who do not intend to live in the US after the wedding to marry in the US as a visitor.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with coming to the US to get married and hundreds of people do it every day (think shotgun Vegas weddings).

Many people on the forum have done exactly as you did - got married as a visitor in the US, and many of them have been honest and told the border agent they were getting married... they have been fine and most were simply waved through with a 'congratulations' or similar.

You must ALWAYS tell the truth at the border. Don't offer information that is not asked for, but if they do ask, then it's perfectly fine to say you are getting married as a visitor. You can even print out the page from the US Embassy website to show that they actually advise doing it.

Yup, someone last week told immigration he was coming to marry and they said "Congratulations" and stamped him through.  He had been crapping himself.  He was honest and of course it wasn't an issue.  As it's 100% allowed.  Vegas would go out of business if it wasn't.   ;D

Welcome to UKY!

Have you visited the UK yet?  I understand that your fiance visited you in the US, but have you had a chance to visit him in the UK?

If not, I highly recommend to visit at least once before deciding to move over so you can get a sense if you would enjoy living here.

If you are keen on getting married in the UK and haven't had the chance to visit yet, you could kill two birds with one stone and apply for a marriage visitor visa.  This would allow you to visit the UK, spend some time getting to know the country, and get married while here before returning to the US to secure your spouse visa.

Well, its a new day...fresh ideas... lol... still stressed but happy and ready to get this party started.
Yes, i have worked at my job 27 years and they are the best group ever... maybe they are offering to pay my flight just to get rid of me LOL... BUT... it is a wonderful thing and takes that pressure off.
We are now looking at him flying down in Oct and getting married while he is here, then apply for my spousal visa..
Do i still have to make an appointment for a biometric thing? I would assume so but you know where that gets us...
Looking at rings, now, goin to contact  my church and see the price of having the ceremony there, then next spring renew our vows in England so his family and friends and followers can attend. Now just in a head spin...but it's so worth it.

The biometrics process is the same for fiancee or spouse visa. After the online application has been completed, you'll be prompted to book an appointment.

Exciting, sounds like it's all coming together.

The biometrics is literally the easiest part of the application.  :)

Look at you.. you're quoting already!  ;D

No extra charge, it's included in the application fee.   :)
