Hello everyone!
« on: August 11, 2018, 01:14:10 PM »
Hi! I am a British/Italian citizen and met my US girlfriend in Belgium in a hostel. We since been travelling all over the US and EU. We plan to finally settle in the UK. Obviously there are many challenges to this. We will first have to get married and then I will need to properly settle for a few months before she can apply for the visa. It's going to be a long process and I am pretty scared but I am glad we found this great community!

Hello, and welcome!  While you're in the planning stages, have a look at the requirements to sponsor her visa, if you haven't already.  I'm glad you found us!

Do you know which financial category you'll apply under (cat A: salary of at least £18,600pa from the same employer for at least six months; cat B: wages of at least £18,600pa from one or more employers over the last 12 months and continued employment of £18,600pa going forward; cat D: cash savings of at least £62,500 that you and/or your partner have held for at least six months; or a couple of more complicated )?
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Welcome :)

I would strongly encourage your other half to join this forum as well if she's open to it. It can be especially helpful to the person who will be the one moving.

How long ago did you two get together? Travelling all over the place sounds like an amazing adventure to have together and it can definitely help build a strong relationship!
My, how time flies....
