hubby just told me he wants to go meet up with a mate and watch footie in the pub tomorrow night yaaay viewing uninterrrupted by interjections like "WHAT are you watching now?" "not b****dy Melrose Place AGAIN?" "You watch so much TRASH!" etc etc

I had the exact same too - " oh it's just Melrose but richer and older people" - yeah hon, but who'll be hooked too!

Just saw the first episode on RTE - it is great! I thought from the hype it would be more soap operaish...not a big fan of Nicolette Sheridan but I really enjoyed the show. If the rest of the season lives up and beyond the first episode it's gonna be terrific.

I think you are spot on!  Did anyone turn straight to E4 and watch the first episode (yep :) ?

Saw it last night on channel 4. I think Im gonna be hooked on it.
I cracked up when the lady (dont know their names yet) was mowing the lawn in the middle of the night in her evening gown!
So Im guessing they are all doomed one way or another. Of course they will find fingerprints on the measuring cup from the fire. The one (Marcia Cross) will get accused of trying to murder her husband with the onions, etc.
Whats with the letter that was found from the lady that blew her brains out? And what are they digging up from the swimming pool?
Havent read all the posts on this thread. Sorry if Im repeating anything.

Yep I'm addicted already! It was great, sort of a cross between 6 Feet Under and the Stepford Wives. Very funny. I loved the lawn mowing scene too, hilarious.

Yes, I immediately thought of Six Feet Under as well.

Hell, Jon was watching it last night with me! He seemed to like it despite it being a bit girly.

It was so funny though! LOVED it.

I had seen a  spot about it on Entertainment Tonight  on my recent trip back to the sta tes..  and  commented  to DH that we need  more  'shows' in England.. enough about following much  too old  drunk girls on 'holiday' to Spian.. or ANOTHER  home makeover show!!  and  lo and  behold..Desperate Housewives  was here  the night I got back!! yEAH!!..
DH and I BOTH watched it and I think the  'dark' side of it appeals  to him.  The  mowing the lawn scene  wa s  Hilarious  and  DH  just felt she should have  changed  her clothes first ..  ::) It was  good seeing a bunch of 'old timers' from soap opera world.. the set up of having everyone on  one street immediately reminded me of Knots Landing which was  famiy entertainment at our house growing up.. even explained Knots  to  DH.. LOL!..

can't wait for next week!

I really enjoyed the Mommy character - that funeral scene was priceless.

Is it just me or is the nosy neighbor based on the nosy neighbor from Bewitched, I think her name was Mrs Crabtree? They are remarkably similar.
