Sponsor letter feed back please

Hello again everyone,

The big day draws ever closer. I've seen that a few people have posted letters on here and received some really helpful feedback. I hope it's OK for me to do the same. Its not quite finished but hopefully someone can give me some pointers.

Dear Entry clearance officer,

I am writing to confirm my sponsorship of K for a spousal visa to join me in the UK. I am a British citizen and have lived in the UK since birth.

I am currently employed full-time at B as a skilled CNC setter and have been employed here since the 16th October 2017. My starting wage from the beginning of my employment was £9.00 P/h. In June 2018 I received a wage increase to £12.00 p/h and this is my current hourly wage. I work a 40 hour week at B plus guaranteed overtime. I will therefore be using this wage to meet the financial requirement under Category A, and I am including the relevant supporting documents as evidence.

When K has been granted her Visa, we plan to live at (home address) This is a 4 bedroom semi-detached house that belongs to my Mother. My Mother has given us her express permission to live at the property until K is settled and we can move out into a place of our own. I am including the relevant supporting documents as evidence regarding accommodation.

I first met K online in May 2017. We met by chance as we were both members of the same online music forum. We bagan speaking to one another on the forum and found that we both had similar taste in music and films as well as a very similar view on life and morals. As a result, we struck up a quick friendship. We used Kik messenger to stay in contact while we were not logged into the forum and after a few months we decided to enter into a long distance relationship. We then added each other on Facebook and have used the Facebook messenger app to stay in contact with each other while we are apart. We text each other and video call daily.

We first met face to face on the 21st October 2017 when K flew from Denver to London to meet me. She stayed with my family and I for 3 months until she returned home on 12th January 2018. During this time K was able to meet my family and friends and travel with me around the south of the UK.
On the 17th March 2018 I flew to Denver to stay with K and her family in L for 2 weeks. During this time I had the opportunity to meet her friends and family and travel around Colorado. We spent a weekend in Estes Park where I proposed marriage to K on the 25th March 2018.
I stayed with K for the remainder of my time in the US in L until I returned home on the 31st March 2018.
K flew out to the UK again on the 20th July 2018 and spent a month in the UK with me. She returned home on the 25th August 2018.
I flew to Denver on the 22nd September 2018 and we married on the 29th September 2018. After our honeymoon, I returned home on the 13th October 2018 to begin work on the Spouse Visa application.

We have chosen to settle in the UK for a number of reasons such as.....

This is what I have so far. Any feedback would be hugely appreciated. Any pointers on the last paragraph would also be really helpful.

I hope someone can help.

Thank you

Alex

It looks pretty good, though I would clearly emphasise that you are NON-salaried, so that they calculate your income correctly. You also want your employer letter to explicitly state that you are NON-salaried as well.

Also, I would shorten your relationship section a bit - just the basics - dates and locations only, no personal stuff about your friendship, or meeting family/friends.

For example:

I first met K online in May 2017 and entered into a relationship on X date. We first met face to face on the 21st October 2017 when K flew from Denver to London to meet me. She stayed with my family and I for 3 months until she returned home on 12th January 2018. On the 17th March 2018 I flew to Denver to stay with K and her family in L for 2 weeks. We use Kik messenger and Facebook messenger to stay in contact while we are apart. We also text each other and video call daily.

We have chosen to settle in the UK because (give reason in one sentence).

Hello there!

Thank you so much for the quick and very helpful response. I will amend my letter today.

I have another question though.

The housing report that I must do... Can it be done by any charted surveyor or should I contact one of the companies that specialises in immigration housing reports. I've read that they are required and some say that they're not. We will be living in a shared household at my mother's until we can move into our own home. Can anyone give me an answer on this?

Thank you in advance.

Alex

You definitely do not need a housing inspection.

When living with family you just need to provide proof of ownership and a letter of granting you permission to live there.

Housing reports are only required in cases such as houses of multiple occupation where rooms in a large house are rented to multiple different families.

Hello!

Once again, thank you for your quick and helpful reply. That's great news. That'll save me a headache and some money!

I do have other questions, should I start new threads so that people can find them? Or should I use my existing thread to avoid clutter.

My next question is:

When packing my documents into my folder, should I use individual plastic wallets for all different documents or use one for application forms, one for financial documents, etc.

I want my application to be as easy as possible for the ECO to read and understand

As always, any advice is massively appreciated.

Thank you

Alex

No, don’t start any new threads. It’s actually much easier for us to help you if you keep ALL your questions about your application in one thread only.

If you have multiple threads, then if we want to check your situation or what advice you’ve already been given, we have to go hunting through the whole forum to find them all and read them individually, but if you keep everything in one thread , all we have to do is scroll up the same page to check what has been said.

I monitor the forum using the Recent Unread Topics Page, so I will always see all the new posts.

Nope, do not use ANY folders - that just makes the ECO’s job harder because they’ll have to go through them and take everything out of every folder to rearrange your documents before they process the application.

Just put each section in a pile, perhaps secure with a paper clip, elastic band or piece of string, and then gather them together and place in your package.

Hello!

Thank so much for your help. I really do appreciate it hugely. Once this is done I would like to make a donation to a charity of your choice on behalf of this forum as a thank you.

My next question that I've just thought of:

The deed to my mother's house went missing years ago and never got replaced. I have the land registry documents though. They're still in my mother's old name. We do have her original change of name deed. If I provide this and she covers it in her letter will this suffice? Otherwise we'll have to mess about changing it.

Thank you again,

Alex

Should be fine - I don't see why it would be a problem :).

Hello again!

Thank you for your reply,

I have just sat down with my Mother to get her to draft out the letter regarding the accommodation, I am not entirely sure what it needs to include. If somebody can point me in the right direction It would be very helpful.

Thanks again,

Alex

She just needs to state:
- that she owns the house and date it was purchased
- the address of the house
- that she gives her permission for you and your spouse to live there
- the total number of bedrooms + living rooms, and the total number of people who will be living in the house, to show it won’t be overcrowded.

Doesn’t need to be more than 1 paragraph or so.

Hello! :)

Thank you, I'll sit down with her again today and get it written out.

I woke up this morning with another question:

I have my P60 from work. As I joined the company in October, the form only shows a few months worth of earnings. Are they looking at the P60 as a proof of earnings document or rather another bit of evidence that my job is genuine? I am obviously including my payslips and bank statements. Will they see that the P60 is only a few months worth?

I hope I've been clear enough.

Thank you

Alex

A P60 is not actually a required document, so it doesn’t matter how many months they show.

However, the guidance states:

]In addition to the evidence listed above, paragraph 2A of Appendix FM-SE specifies that P60(s) for the relevant period(s) of employment (if issued) and a signed contract(s) of employment may also be submitted in respect of paid employment in the UK. If they are not submitted, the decision-maker may grant the application if otherwise satisfied that the requirements of Appendix FM-SE relating to that employment are met, or they may ask for the documents to be submitted in accordance with paragraph D of the Appendix.

So, we suggest you send it anyway.

Hello again!

Thank you, I will include my p60 just as I have it here.

So my sponsor letter is done now thanks to you guys and so is the letter from my mother. We just need to do the applicant letter now.

Can you please help me with what needs to go into the applicant letter. I'm really stuck again.

Sorry to be a pain.

Alex

There’s nothing in particular that needs to go in the applicant letter, since there’s no requirement to write one.

If the application is straightforward (no criminal convictions, no previous refused visas or entries to the UK), it can be as simple as:

To The Entry Clearance Officer,

Please find included my application and supporting documents for a settlement visa to join my husband/wife in the UK. I would like my 30-day visa vignette to start on X date, as per the Intended Travel Date listed on the application form.

Included in this package are the following documents:
[list of all the documents]

Yours Faithfully,

Applicant’s Name

Hello again :)

Another swift and helpful response. Thank you so much. I'm really trying to get as much of this stuff worked out for myself as possible. Thank you everyone for bearing with me.

I'm a little confused, what does 30 day visa vignette mean?

Also, the return shipping label? Is that something that I can purchase as an option when applying or should I pay for a FedEx label and include it.

One last thing, does anyone have any screenshots of the actual application form? I have the printable copy of the financial document but id love to be able to look at exactly what needs to be done on the application form so that I can make a rough draft for my wife when she comes to fill it out.

Again, thank you so much for your patience and support.

Alex
