What does an escalation mean for us?????
« on: September 05, 2018, 02:42:00 PM »
Hello everyone!!

I'm sure you have all heard me whining around this forum about how long we've been waiting. My husband sent an email to the help center inquiring about the states as we are now at 93BD, they requested that I reply to them with my name, passport number, GWF number and all of that. A few days later we received an email stating that our case had been escalated to the correct department and someone should be contacting us in 15 working days.... which is another 3 WEEKS!!

I guess my questions are what does it mean that it's been escalated? To me it doesn't seem like it means anything since we are still waiting another 3 weeks. Also.. in any of the experts opinion is there something wrong with our application that it's taking this long????

Thank you so much and as always any advice would be greatly appreciated!

As someone who’s in the same boat. I can confirm escalation means absolutely nothing. This will do nothing to speed up your case. I’m on 80 BD today and have been escalated 3 times, contacted MP (6-weeks ago), and filed a complaint concerning the priority not being treated as priority. None of it does anything at all.

It’s extremely frustrating, and it’s really putting my family (wife and 5 kids in US) in a desperate situation; but nobody cares. They can’t care! Because they literally have 100’s of similar stories in front of them.

Wish I had better news.. but I can’t think of one positive that’s come out of ‘escalation’. You will not get any feedback, if you do they repeat the same line about being patient.

Have you tried contacting your MP? You'll have much better luck that way. I can't believe you've lasted 93 business days! Hang in there, and try to be positive and strong :)

My MP has been useless. They sent me two nice envelopes in the mail. But they’ve done absolutely nothing.

Unfortunately that is right too.  It used to be that MP's could help.  But too many people took advantage of that route without having a reason for urgency or having been over standard processing times.  Therefore, MP's are just given the same info applications are given - which is nothing.  It's infuriating.

It’s all down to not enough people and too many applications. Sure the ‘hostile environment’ is a pain. But the big problem is a few people doing way more applications. I imagine they’re piles of applications just sitting there.

I don’t understand how dominos pizza had the technology to tell you the pizza is out of the oven and update you every step of the way. But UKVI can’t tell you anything!

Hi guys!

By MP do you mean lawyer? We have one of those. He said the same thing, we basically just have to wait.

No, MP stands for member of parliament.

MP is a law maker, like a congressman.. they pretty much don’t do anything period. Why we expect them to help us I don’t know.

I don't think we have one. It also seems as though it is not worth it to have or contact as they aren't much help.

Everyone in the UK has one, since every town/county has an assigned MP - you would just contact the MP for the UK town you will be living in once the visa has been issued.

You can search for your local MP here:
https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/

MPs used to have a direct line to Sheffield and could pull strings for you to get your application looked at. However, Sheffield seem to have changed things so that it’s difficult for MPs to contact them now.

However it’s worth a try to see if they can help.

Couldn't agree more.  It's the lack of transparency that is the most frustrating.  If you apply in reverse, it's right there on the Embassy website "we are currently processing applications received on xx/xx/xxxx"  So you can actually gauge how long it'll take!

Any type of communication from them would be nice. It's just that being left in the dark for months on end that's so frustrating. It's so hard to plan anything or prepare for anything.
