Hi all!
At the end of November, my partner and I will be visiting my family and travelling in the US for a little more than a month. We have been living in the UK (together) for a little over two years, but we have no plans to return to the UK after this trip (we are going to travel for an indefinite period of time...)
My partner has dual EU/Australian citizenship (he has been living in the UK on his EU passport) and has had a steady job while living here, but he will have quit it by the time we enter the US. He does have a return flight booked to Australia from the US when we are planning to leave, however. I am just a little bit worried that this will raise some eyebrows with CBP, seeing as he has no "ties" to his home country or his country of residence.
I am also a little bit confused about which line we should go through when clearing customs. Do we go together (as we live together, but are not married) through the non-citizen line? Does he go through that line by himself and I go through the US citizen line by myself? Any clarification would be really appreciated...I already emailed CBP and received an incredibly unhelpful response.
Sorry for all of the questions and thanks in advance!
