Need your help :)
« on: November 07, 2018, 10:27:20 AM »
Hi , thanks UKY, you always give great thoughts and advice. I'm trying to arrange a gig for charity.  The charity is awesome - it's trying to raise funds for a social enterprise and respite centre for people with learning disabilities.
The hotel is being awesome, giving me the hall cheap and the tea party cheap and the corkage cheap. Basically, I can work it out cheap enough that I can make between £4.50-5.00 a head for the charity.

Is this price reasonable though?  (See image attached) .
We're a community social band, with a mix of good players and not so good players, so sometimes can sound, ahem, how can I be polite, rough. But, we have fun. But my friends also know what we sound like and probably wouldn't pay this much. HA.
Does it seem too much?

£13/£15 with the glass of bubbles and afternoon tea seems reasonable to me.

Is the tea a typical spread?  Sandwiches, scones, and desserts?  If so, seems good value.  £13 would be what you would pay on the high street for afternoon tea with a glass of prosecco, so they are getting the added music.

Not to mention it is for charity.  I would pay it.  My husband wouldn't - but that's because he can't eat the food.   :P

It's a charity gig so they know it's not paying you! Are you going to have raffles to help earn more and get more foot traffic?

It's for charity and so I think people will be very willing, especially if it's a cause they believe in. I agree with KFdancer. I'd happily pay the amount you suggested.

Awesome that you're doing this!! Good luck!

Yes, typical afternoon tea spread. Being Christmas, hoping the chef can do mince pies, hehe.   :)
And hopefully can get some good raffle prizes, which can really boost the funds.

Thanks for your thoughts, always useful to bounce these things off people. My husband is getting sick of me asking, lol.  And he can't eat the food either  :P

The band is sick to death of  Christmas music already, so I hope I don't have a mutiny on my hands soon. As and aside, they don't seem to know 'Christmas Time is Here' from Charlie Brown's Christmas and 'You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch'. Really  ??? ???  Even my husband who lives under a rock most of the time knows these songs.

I think you could get away with more but you're safe with the numbers you've chosen.  :)  It's not about the money, well, it is but... you know what I mean!  ;D

Seems quite reasonable to me! In fact, if I’m not working I would love to attend.

Funnily enough, I'm going to a charity gig this coming Saturday. My friend's band (amateurs) is raising money for a local Liverpool cancer charity. It's £7 just for entrance fee, plus more for raffle tickets and drinks to purchase. I would have happily paid a tenner. Three friends who don't know my friend are coming along, just for a fun night out for a good cause.  Your price seems great-you get a lot for your money and raising money for charity.

Good luck!

You've already been reassured, but I'll add that I agree with KF.  It's good value.  You could reasonably charge more, but your price point is a nice round number on the door, and the advance tickets make you feel like you're getting a nice discount.  I'd go if I lived closer.  It sounds like a fun event and for a good cause.
