Financial requirements
« on: November 15, 2018, 12:26:43 AM »
It looks like my state pension here in the US will be enough to cover the financial requirement for my wife's UK visa application.
Will a W2 tax form suffice to show my annual income ?
I do have bank accounts as well but I don't think I need to declare my savings if I already qualify with my pension.

Have a read of the official guidance to find out what documents are required to show pension income.

See pages 56-57 of this document:

They need official documentation from a pension authority or pension company. I suppose a W2 tax form is official documentation but I'm not sure if they want an actual letter stating my pension entitlement and amount .

No, a W2 tax form will not be sufficient.

They need a letter from the company that pays out your pension confirming the details of the pension fund and stating how much pension you receive each month. UKVI will then match this information to the deposits shown on your bank statement(s) to confirm that you are the one receiving the pension income.

yes you need a letter confirming pension award as well as a bank statement showing a recent payment of it.

you were correctly referred to the guidance above.

w2 is good to enclose but it will not solve the problem.

You make more than £18600 pa in state pension?? state pension? not private? thats quite a lot of pension -- sorry not judging just surprised. i didnt realise US has such as generous pension system) people i saw with such pensions usually have them through private schemes not the state

I’ll give you a quick education.  The USA is a very generous country.  We reward hard workers.  ;D. You would be hard pressed to find ANYONE who’s retirement income/pension did not meet the UK financial requirements.
