I sent my materials in on the 26th of September and I had never received anything from Sheffield saying they received my materials (although of course I did check the UPS tracking number and it was signed for at reception in NY). I paid $7 to email and got a form letter saying my application is being considered. My husband enlisted the help of his MP who was told on the phone that they had all my documents and were doing a second check. Then, on the 28th of November, he received an email that said "as soon as we have received her documents we will progress her application to the next process." They sent the same email to me. Am I crazy or did they just contradict themselves? To me, it sounds like they didn't receive all my materials.

Anybody ever seen anything like this happen before?

Visa Type: Spouse Visa
Priority Service: Yes (not through VFS)
Online app submitted: 9/25/18
Biometrics & docs sent: 9/26/18
Application delivered in NY: 9/27/18
Application received email: Never received email. Wrote to them 11/7/18 and they wrote me back 11/8/18 with the standard "I can confirm that your application is being considered and is currently awaiting a decision." Cost me $7 for that email but gave me a tiny, tiny, tiny peace of mind for a day.
Decision made email: TBA
Passport received: TBA

Getting communication about an on-going application is nigh on impossible. Basically, UKVI are pretty crap with communication and I wouldn't believe a word of what they've said. You *should* be emailed and asked to supply missing documentation. That's the only communication I would trust from them.

The change to sending to New York (instead of Sheffield) happened on September 10, so the whole system is still pretty new. Many other people seem to be facing delays (on this and other fora).
2004-2008: Student Visa
2008-2010: Tier 1 PSW
2010-2011: Tier 4
2011-2014: Tier 2
2013-2016: New Tier 2 (changed jobs)
16/12/15: SET (LR) successful! - It's been a long road...
12/05/16: Citizenship ceremony!

Just in case anybody ever looks at this, our MP heard from Sheffield today that my documents/passports have indeed been lost. They're trying to track them down but Sheffield never received them. It has been 50 working days since they were signed for in New York.

Just posted this in the other thread too, but putting it here as well:

Sorry to hear that :(.

However, if you went through the new system (sending everything to New York) nothing will have been physically mailed to Sheffield, since everything is now scanned in New York and transmitted to Sheffield electronically.

Which means that if your documents and passports are anywhere they will be in New York. It may just be that they ended up in the wrong office within the New York building.

That is a very good point. I guess I just assumed they lost everything. Well, we all know what assuming does...

Thank you for the bit of hope!
