We moved to the UK 3 weeks ago but did not apply for ToR as we mistakenly thought it didn't apply. We had mailed ourselves several boxes previously to be stored with my parents and had no issues. Just now had family mail us 2 boxes that we were ready for but they were hit with customs and VAT this time. We now need to attempt a refund on these boxes and figure out how to deal with 10 more boxes that are ready for mailing from the US.
So, do we need a ToR number to claim a refund on the boxes here, as well as to be applied to the boxes still to be sent? Everything is legitimate personal stuff, and we can honestly keep it below the £135 threshold. There are many good posts here but not many apply to mailing belongings as opposed to shipping.
