Pumpkin!
« on: September 02, 2019, 09:03:34 AM »
'Tis the season now.
Waitin for some of mine to ripen in the allotment. They're looking great.

In the meanwhile, I have some pumpkin butter that I brought back from the US last time I was there. I opened it this morning, and it's heavenly.
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

I've already had 2 iced pumpkin spice lattes from starbucks haha no regrets. I'm so happy! I've always wanted to grow pumpkins but I'm going to wait until next season when we're in out new house to try growing anything again.

We are cheating - we have a couple of tins of pumpkin, all ready to be made into a pie.

Have to use up the last of the pumpkin puree I put up last year, as it's almost time to get a fresh pumpkin.  We have a recipe out of the diabetic cookbook for pumpkin waffles that is just divine....  ;D

I found some packets of dry pumpkin soup mix in Lupe Pintos clearance bin, so looking forward to trying that.

I can't really do Starbucks PSL because of the sugar, but i'm planning to check TK Maxx and see if they have a sugar free pumpkin spice syrup amongst all the other flavours.

I have one tin of pumpkin puree left from last year, so i will probably do pumpkin bread soon, which many of my friends love and ask for every autumn.

You may be lucky and find a bottle or two of PS syrup at TK Maxx. It hit the shelves a few weeks ago and it sells out fast.

I've got an Amazon subscription for Tate & Lyle's pumpkin coffee syrup (and the gingerbread one as well), so I can have pumpkin spice coffee all year long, but it's nowhere as nice as the real thing. I've been going to Starbucks before work all last week to see if they had them yet, can't wait to finally get one.

Unrelated to food, my almost three year old is obsessed with Charlie Brown at the moment and is constantly asking "watch Great Pumpkin please?" I think i've watched it four times in a row now.

I don’t have to watch my sugar in take but I used to work for Starbucks and the sugar in a PSL is horrific. Unless they changed recipes.  When you buy syrup from TK Max where do you get pumps from? It always deters me from buying it.

I’m not a huge pumpkin fan myself but some pumpkin bread sounds nice, I’m off today maybe I can make some if I can round up pumpkin at my local Sainsbury’s

The recipe is different over here (and they changed in about 3ish years ago I think if I had to guess). I don't know fully how different it is from what you know (and there is probably definitely a lot of sugar in it), but they started using real pumpkin in their recipe a few years ago. It makes the colour more orange (lol) and it makes the pumpkin taste better. Not sure if the US has changed their recipe or not yet but they hadn't originally changed it at the same time.

I don't use a pump. I have about 15 different syrups right now.

But if you really want a pump, Amazon has them.

I wonder if I can make a PSL with the Pumpkin Butter I have?  I can't see why not, actually.  Hmm, will need to experiment.

I’ll have to give it a try, have you tried it iced? I’m much more of an iced coffee lady.
