Find the flour... you don't need yeast to make your own sour dough starter.

That's so kind of you!  At the moment I still have some bread left. But honestly, once that's gone I would be so grateful.

You guys!!! I could cry!

This is day 4 of isolation for us and all I want to do is go out to get just a few more things in, but I know the risk is just not worth it... it's so frustrating.

For Larrabee and anyone else......if you are in need I will send anything I can. Our stores here are as empty as everywhere else, but we will help if we can. PM me if you need help. I also have a recipe for biscuits with no yeast.....baking powder is a leavening agent too.

Actually Phatbeetle, I’m in Fort William now. Just recently moved. A HUGE change!  Might be tough under the current circumstances, no friends or family here. One former colleague has been kind enough to offer help if needed, but for now we are just fine.

You lucky stiff!~  That's gorgeous!

I have just done a quick perusal and there does not seem to be much in the way of bread yeast available online right now that I can find. Apparently Waitrose has it in stock online, but I don't need £60 of groceries from them to get delivery (their minimum) or even £40 (their minimum click-and-collect).

I'm going out tomorrow for my daily walk, and will pop quickly into a couple of grocery stores looking for bread yeast (we are not out yet, but low).  If anyone wants me to pick up any for them, please to let me know. I should be going out around 10:00 as much after that and there are too many people out. If I'm lucky enough to find any and there isn't a cap on how much I can get, I'm happy to pick some up for you.

If you happen across any that are gluten free I would be incredibly grateful. But will to manage with flat breads and soda breads if needed. :)
