Good Sam App
« on: April 07, 2020, 01:16:00 PM »
Has anyone else been verified for the NHS volunteer app?  I signed up a while ago and just got my notification today that I am good to go.  I'll turn it on later and see if they actually want me to do something.  I bet every task will have hundreds of volunteers ready to help, at least at the beginning.

BTW, this is not a brag, I haven't done anything yet.  Aquila is an actual hero!  I just play one on TV

Well done Jim, you should be proud of yourself! And you are setting a wonderful example for your children.  :)

I've just turned it on and went "on duty".  I'm waiting for it to say "We need you to drive as fast as you can down to Camber Sands to pick up urgent equipment.  It will be required for you to wear sunglasses, play the radio loud and your wife must stay home.  We've arranged for the McDonalds to be open for you to grab a bite to eat."
That's my fantasy anyway.

Pretty quiet so far.  There is a button you can press to simulate a call out and it does a cool siren noise.  Maybe I'll just sit outside in my car, press the button repeatedly and play fire engine.  Or I could pretend it went off and just get out of the house for a while.

Hey, this is fun.  My phone went off with a proper siren and I got a call!  Unfortunately, it was a lady who might need shopping in the future but doesn't right now.  I explained to her how I thought things should work and gave her the number to call when she actually does need help.  Bish Bash Boom, done!
