For Discord people...
« on: April 22, 2020, 04:19:48 PM »
I have set up a UKY discord channel for anybody that has a discord account and wants to chat live/in real time. Not to take away from UKY forum at all, but just because i thought, given the pandemic, people may want to have more "hangout"/real time chats and might not feel comfortable doing this on FB with their real identity (discord allows anonymity in a way FB won't for those that do mind). Thought it might scratch an itch people have during lockdown. If anybody is interested, let me know and i'll post the link. If it doesn't get used and nobody is interested, that is totally find as well (was just a passing thought).

Coool so i've not properly customised it much set from a formal POV as no point if nobody wanted to chat on it, but the invite at the moment is https://discord.gg/Py9GcV (it expires after a set amount of time)

I use it for gaming and for some online groups for tv shows. We've moved our board game group to it as well for the time being and thought it might be a nice way to supplement the forum for "hanging out" :) thought if we wanted to have some virtual events thag might be a good way to host them. Glad people actually want to join as i wasnt sure anybody would! Hah

Hope i don't upset anybody or have them think im diverting traffic from here as definitely not my intention.

Anybody interested in doing a virtual meetup?  Discord  can do video/voice/text so even if you don't feel comfortable being on video, there's options to still be connected and have a meetup. Could do a quiz or play a game or just have a drop in/drop out drinks session (alcohol or not) . Just thinking some people might be wanting more socialisation with people outside their home at the moment but appreciate you all might be zoom'd out

(i'll read the entire thread later, in case the instructions have already been posted!)

All that's needed is to sign up to discord. Not needed but can also download on phone/laptop. (https://discordapp.com)

Then you need to just join the UKY group - generate a new link to join as they only ladt 24 hours i think - and then there's a virtual pub (voice chat) you go into
