@larrabee It wasn't meant to be, she failed the test. They do not give you a detailed report or an indication of how many marks you failed by.
On a positive note, my son's first passport has been approved and is being printed.

That's a pity. I have often thought how difficult it must be to pass when English is not your first language. Even when it is, it can be hard as they phase the questions very trickily sometimes, with double negatives and the like so my advice would be to have her read the questions extremely carefully and not take them at immediate face value.

Great news about the passport!  :)

Some of the questions were tricky and she did acknowledge the fact that they were trying to confuse her when asking the question, reading is not her strongest point, I asked her did you ask for headphones and she said no, I told her next time ask them for a headphone so atleast you can hear them read out the question to you. I'm sure she will crack this. She was up at 6am this morning taking the practical tests on my phone. She's like possessed now.
Main thing is that her A2 test is done and out of the way, I just need to start finalising the application when I get my supporting documents back from the passport office, hopefully it is straightforward and we get a reply back quickly.

Thanks to her thinking ahead, at lest there is no time pressure. But it looks like she'll be able to pass sooner rather than later with that amount of determination!  Great idea about the headphones, I'm sure that will help too.  :)

Quick question. On the application there is a checkbox for the following;

  • Documents supporting my other reasons to stay in the UK
What kind of documents can I supply here to support this?

I'm also going to be looking at finalising the online application very soon (this month), so will post my updated document list for you to scrutinise and advise on what else I may possibly need to add.

There aren't really any particular documents to supply for this - most people don't supply any.

If you have any children in the UK (UK citizens or not), then this is where you provide their documents (passports, birth certificates, evidence of where they live), but other than that, there isn't really anything for you to send.

Documents for this will only be looked at if your application falls for refusal and they look into whether you qualify for leave outside the rules under Article 8... but the only way that will be granted is if you have a biological UK citizen child living in the UK whose life will be seriously disrupted if your visa is refused and you have to return to the US.

Ah right, I have ticked the box, I just need to gather some employment related documents, put these documents together and then put up a final list of proof of cohabitation documentation for you all to take a look at. Once that's all sorted I can look to finish the declaration and complete the rest of the application which is just the payments.

I've been lazy with this application - well that's about to change.

I'm looking to get all this sorted next week and submitted well before the end of the month as that is when the wife's visa expires.

Does anyone have a checklist/template that they use to show the final documentation that they have accumulated for the application before submitting the online application?

I want to make sure that I have everything ready as every piece of document will need to be uploaded/scanned.

I've being using Trello to keep a track of what I need - i think the main bit will be to provide the proof of cohabitation spread out over the 2.5 years. I need to update that list so it can be scrutinized by you experienced people!

Thanks,
J

There's no specific checklist because the documents you need to provide will depend on your personal situation and circumstances.

So, the easiest thing to do would be for you to state how you are meeting each requirement (financial, accommodation, co-habitation) and list all the documents you have for those requirements and then we can help you refine your document list from there because on what you personally need to send.

If this is your first extension and you are applying for FLR(M), you only provide documents covering the last 2 years, not 2.5 years.

So, if you are applying in the next couple of weeks or so, you will need documents from each of the following months:

July 2018
November 2018
March 2019
July 2019
November 2019
March 2020
July 2020

Alternatively, you could use the following months:

August 2018
December 2018
April 2019
August 2019
December 2019
April 2020
August 2020

Hello,

I'm just printing off and gathering all documents that I need to finally complete the application form process.

The declarations section at the end states the following;

Is the account with a bank or utility company for which you have supplied information and supporting documentation held jointly by you and other people? (Required)
Should this be yes as the water bill is in my name and my wife's name.

Does the account with the bank or utility company for which you have supplied information and supporting documentation relate to another person who is to provide you financial support?
Me the husband is providing financial support to the application, my wife. So should I click on "Yes" here? It's confusing as the form it asks you to download is the same.

Also, when do you start to scan documents and upload it via the other website? Before or after submitting the online application?

Thanks,
J

The first one is yes. The second one is no..
You submit the application before scanning the documents but make sure you have everything you need before you submit.
