Understood. I'll get cracking Monday morning 9am sharp for that letter.

Then I can submit this application and try forgetting about it, it's consumed my life this past couple of weeks.

Thank you.

Hey,
Under 3c leave, is self employed work still allowed. My husband is self employed for a uni and hasn’t done any work for them since March but is starting back up again in September. He is also employed by a college on a zero hour contract again finished in March starting back up in September. Will he have any problem starting these back up?
Hi Sezza31,

I'm not sure what the answer would be to that, but I can advise you to open a new thread and list your concerns in there, someone with experience will be able to get to you & all conversation can be in one place, this will also help others out.

Thank you.

I've hit a brick wall - and I've hit it quite hard that I literally feel sick.

I've rang the doctors surgery requesting that I need a letter for my son to confirm that he is registered at the address they have on file.

She said we no longer do them kind of letters and won't be doing them in the future. He's going to be 2 at the end of this month, so he does not attend school/nursery/playgroup.

The only letter I have for him is a NHS letter about an operation he will be going under - god knows when that will happen because of COVID19.

That letter is not within 3 months. I'm stumped. What do I do now?

The application needs to be submitted before the 24th August 2020.

Any advice? @ksand24 @larrabee

That's frustrating about the GP surgery not doing the letter - I thought most surgeries would do it if asked, and many will charge for it (about £25), so it seems like kind of a missed opportunity for them to take a bit of money.

If you absolutely cannot get anything at all with his address on it before the 24th, then I would include the letter you do have along with a cover letter explaining why it is not dated in the last 3 months.

You could also see if you can get hold of anything else confirming his address after you have submitted the online application, since it will likely be a while before you actually need to upload the documents.

Try his dentist. Call the GP surgery back and make sure they realise you are intending to pay for the letter. Call the hospital department regarding the surgery. They may be able to send you another waiting list letter or similar.

I did mention that my family members have done letters from the surgery and paid for it, but she asked someone else there and they confirmed that we no longer do those kind of letters. I did say I would pay for it, she said it's not a matter of paying, we just don't do them anymore and won't be for the foreseeable future.
I may need to go down the cover letter route. With a limited enough of time left there isn't much more time I can waste.

Regarding the uploading of documents, how soon do you need to do that once the ONLINE application is submitted?

Looks like I will need to call the hospital department and get them to send another update letter out in his name then.
They've said no to mailing letters even when I mentioned that my family members have paid and I am willing to as well.

She said the doctors no longer make those letters and will not be for the foreseeable future.

My sister did say to open a child savings account in my son's name and use that as proof of address, another good idea? Seems like one to me.

You have until your biometrics appointment to upload the documents, which could be weeks or months from now, given that people who applied in March and April are still waiting to be able to give biometrics (or use the app instead).

Really, all your documents should be dated before you apply online, but with something like this letter, and given the situation, you’d probably be okay if it was dated after August 24th.

Do you think I should submit the online application now and then wait for a letter from either the hospital or somewhere else and then upload the documents?

Either way, I will need to include a cover letter just clarifying a few things so the person checking my applications fully understands.

I think I may end up opting in on the app as it's free I can't be dishing out £110 for an appointment, would that be £110x2 as I'll have to be present too at the appointment.

I would wait and see if you can get a letter first before you submit the application.

As long as you submit by 11:59pm on the 24th it doesn’t matter.

No, you only pay for the person applying as they are the one who is attending the appointment.

It’s unlikely that you will be allowed into the appointment as well, since a) most centres are too small to accommodate extra people who are not applying and b) because of Covid I imagine they will only allow the applicant in the building.

I've managed to get in touch with the hospital and they have printed out a waiting list letter with today's date, my son's name and address on the letter which will be sent out today - awesome!

Once I have that I will submit the application and then straight after that, upload all the documents and get it over and done with. There won't be any problems in me doing that is there?

I can then wait for them to give me a bio metrics appointment or opt me into re-using bio metrics data if my wife is eligible.

Phew! I am nearly there!

I've had a call back from the secretary just now - someone different this time and she has said she will send another letter out this time addressed from the doctor himself.

You only need one and now it's like buses haha! The more the merrier!
I'm hoping I see that letter pop through the letterbox tomorrow - waiting patiently.
