Remember there was once a UKY member whose husband/partner either owned or was the brewer at Siren?

Ohhhhh???? I did not know that! It's the closest of the berkshire area breweries to me and KF (15 minutws away). Always quality. One of my favourites!

Just hit 85 followers on my beer instagram as well!! Shocked as I've only started it a week ago and not the most rivetting content yet. Just shows people really like their craft beer hahah

This is probably a topic for a different thread, but... can you explain to me the concept of Instagram?  I just don't get it.  I thought it was just a place to post photos, but it seems like it has a more social element as well?  What's the difference between Instagram and Facebook?  Am I missing out by only having Facebook?

Will come back and explain more properly when i'm not on mobile, but my view (will vary by individual) is that it IS about thr photos but there is the social aspect around it as well. I post my photos for my own enjoyment/for myself. If other people enjoy them andd it leads to talking points, then i am game! Will try to explain further when im off my concalls and on desktop.

Obviously, as well just to add, business use it for marketing. So beer example is that i find new beer releases to spend too much money on by looking at what's being announced on instagram.

I use the Untappd app to keep track of the beers I drink.  You can rate them and leave comments about them, etc.  You can also say which pub you drank it in... can come in useful if someone posts a rating of a certain beer in a certain pub... then you can decide whether it's worth rushing along there to get some before it goes!

I use it as well but they don't give enough characters for propee review and i don't like that it's limited to one photo only. Untapped is great for tracking overall what i've had and what i liked/disliked, but it doesn't fully work for what i like using my instagram for.

I’m a spirits drinker and have really expanded my gin stock at home.

My favourites are the strawberry based gins.  One is by Bloom, the other by Silent Pool. The Silent Pool one can ONLY be purchased at World Duty Free at Gatwick airport.  It’s part of their 9 Lives range.

My two new ones:

Bombay Bramble.  I don’t love it. Smells a bit like soap. It’ll be a long time before I finish the bottle.

Tanqueray Sevilla.  Love it.  But my tummy doesn’t. Gives me indigestion every time I have it.  Doesn’t slow me down but I won’t buy it again.

I do love a bit of gin! I have a few with my spirits. I am glad I'm not the ONLY one who doesn't love the Bombay: bramble.. kind of not sweet enought for me (fairly bitter). Don't need it massively sweet and i imagine i could make it lovely in a cocktail, but don't have fully stocked mixers in my "bad" hah

It's a shame that Bombay Bramble is so bowffin... I love bramble berries and bramble jam and bramble wine, so it sounds like the Bombay Bramble would have been right up my street.  I won't chance it.  :(

On the topic of things that are bowffin... I tapped that mini keg of Vocation Bread & Butter last night, and it was grim.  I always used to love it, but either my tastebuds have changed, or the recipe has been changed, or that beer just isn't really suited to being served kegged and cold.  I drank 4 pints of it last night and I'm going to finish it, because I hate waste and I paid for it, but I would definitely think twice before buying that beer again.  :\\\'(

I thought the same RE Bombay Bramble sounding great and my SIL loves it, i just am not a fan...

That's a shame about the B&B minikeg. Imagine recipe has changed or it's flat out just not good in a mini keg :( can you cook with it instead of drinking?

Currently researching beer cocktails to help me get rid!  ;D
Most of these require lager, though, and this is an English bitter/brown ale type beer.... more research to be done...
