ILR application question - social ties??
« on: July 04, 2020, 01:37:19 PM »
Hello - could someone please clarify exactly what I am supposed to put for this question?

Quote
Are you part of any social groups or do you have other cultural ties in your country of birth, nationality or any other country where you have lived for more than 5 years? (Required)
This could include social networks or connections to any of these countries

I grew up in the US and don't belong to any special social groups, etc. Am I ok to say that? Or am I supposed to say that I have ties to groups? This is a very strange question.

Thanks!

They're trying to find out whether, if your visa was refused, you have any social or cultural ties to your home country that you could go back to and/or that would help you get back on your feet... so, ties like churches or societies associated with your cultural background.

They will only consider your answer to this question if you don't meet the visa requirements and your application falls for refusal.
