Immigrants in Scotland (voting)
« on: August 03, 2020, 05:56:21 PM »
Immigrants in Scotland can now register to vote and will be able to vote in the next Scottish election. This is effective today,  3 August 2020.

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2020/6/contents/enacted

You no longer need to be a British citizen or EU national.

And you are now eligible to hold a political post if you have ILR.

Does this just apply to people with indefinite leave to remain rather than someone on a spouse visa?

It applies to anyone on a visa possibly with exception to someone on a visa lasting under 6 months, I didn't investigate short term visas.

So, on a spouse visa, you are eligible to vote.

As with anything else, they are slow to change the information on their websites.  But you register here.
