We got it (spouse priority)!!!!!
« on: October 14, 2020, 08:13:14 AM »
Thank you to everyone here but massive part of my thanks you to

KSAND! Especially you ksand!!! [smiley=love.gif]
LARABEE and you! [smiley=love.gif]
MARGO and you!  [smiley=love.gif]

for all of your patience, advice and above all *patience* with me through this process. Followed 95% of the advice on here and it worked out in super speedy time ( 2 calendar weeks from biometrics to visa in hand) . She arrives in two weeks. ;D

Priotity spouse:
Wedding originally March 27th
Married - Aug 3rd
Application - August 30th
Biometrics - September 25
UPS package sent - Oct 7
in hands - Oct 9

We registered in our app to stay with family but I've found a house and keen to rent it. Esp as a lockdown looks more likely and where we're hoping to rent looks likely to enter tier three v soon

I would like to sign on it and get us in there preferably even for her quarantine when she arrives but this may not be possible with furniture buying etc needed. But still wanna snag it as rental market is mad at the moment.

Anything to look out for here? I don't think her name can be on the tenancy agreement before her arrival, right? Or can it? Should I rent it under my name them we add her after she gets her brp and hope they're cool with her staying for the quarantine?

It's been a hell of a year, just like for everyone but my goodness. things are looking up!!

So there wouldn't be anything exactly against the rules if her name were on the rental agreeement? that would be great.

They accept a temp visa it seems before the update and we can show that now. I have just enough time to buy the basics of furniture and hopefully figure out the internet and things before she arrives. Hey, we literally slept outside in a tent for 6 months last year, so we can rough it for a couple of weeks lol

Congratulations :).

If she has a valid visa, which she does, then she is allowed to be put on the tenancy agreement.

It's been a hell of a year, just like for everyone but my goodness. things are looking up!!

Dec-March planning a wedding that got cancelled, losing first my old job then my new job due to covid, her coming here and us staying under lockdown together with my mum in a small flat, flying to the US to marry, staying in mexico city for two weeks to avoid the US travel ban (this was awesome!), not having insurance, being separated for 6 out of 9 months, waiting over a month for biometrics, then boom just before 2nd wave really gets going we get the great news. now i look at it, it doesn't sound as bad as some poor folks are dealing with but it's been a tough one mentally, thats for sure!!! my anxiety has got the better of me a lot this year, so thank you all so much for putting up with me!

I know it was a harder road for you because of timing and circumstance, hope it makes the success all the sweeter!
She has a spouse visa which gives her the right to live in the UK so it just depends on their admin whether they can put her on the lease now   or have to wait until she has her BRP.

Congratulations!    Very happy for you.

We've used facebook marketplace and gumtree to find some items for our home.   I bought a table and chairs while we were still renting since we didn't know what type of table we would need once we purchased a home.  The seller was willing to deliver it.

You could also look at charity shop furniture stores.  I've been looking for a set of new kitchen dishes for ages but couldn't find the "right" one.  We just found a set at one of these shops for £4 that we really like and will use for the foreseeable future.   Before we moved last year we found a piece of furniture at a charity shop that exactly fit our need.  Their delivery fee was £30 no matter how many pieces we bought, so we picked up a few other items that we still have in our home.  They delivered within a few days.

Best of luck to you!
