Still waiting for the documents back, but TNT dropped off the passport today at lunchtime after the notification at the end of last week!

So:
  • Application in on 15th June
  • Confirmation of identity by our friend on 17th June
  • Supporting documents posted on 18th June
  • Arrived on the 21st June (special delivery, Monday arrival)
  • Approved, printed and posted on the 5th July
  • Passport delivered to our hands by TNT on the 6th July

That's about two and a half weeks, depending on when you count it from :)

Yay! Nearly there!  :)

Huzzah and great big cheers for you!!! I have been waiting to hear this with almost as much anticipation as if it were my own stuff.

You may get all of your documents via TNT tomorrow. It's so inefficient, but that's what happened with mine.

Aww, that's very kind of you! We aren't ashamed to admit that we did pop a bottle of fizz when it arrived. It's the end of a very long road, one that at the start seemed impossibly long, but sure enough, we got there in the end :)

We didn't quite get that back yet, but maybe today's the day!

The documents arrived back today. And, though we send them over with a hard card-backed envelope, they arrived back in a regular one, so the naturalisation certificate is "letterbox creased". I suppose that's the cost of the passport, boo!

Mine was squashed up too. So much for framing it and putting it on the wall! It's away in our fireproof safe, which is probably a better place for it anyway.

Congratulations, Biscuits. You are officially finished now.  ;D

We are just about to start the passport process as we were moving into our new home. Good to read you all got the passport so quickly.  Does anyone know exactly what info our friend needs to provide to prove your husbands  identity? I believe its an email that is sent.

Thanks

Phew, it feels so strange that there's nothing like this to fret about any more! And, goodness, I suppose stuffing it somewhere safe is the better option. A real pity, and as a replacement is over two hundred, I don't think we're in a rush to replace it... :)

I believe they get an email link to an online form, where they confirm the applicant's details (and birth date) and that the photograph is a true likeness. They also say how they qualify - I *think* that's it.

My friend actually called me and completed it while I was on the other end of the phone! I think he got the notification/email immediately.

Our friend called us when she got the email so all was ok.  We sent off the documents last Wednesday and got a email saying the documents have been received on Friday.  So now we wait….
