ILR Category D
« on: June 19, 2021, 05:38:57 PM »
I will shortly be applying for an Indefinite Leave to Remain (SET M). My previous two visa applications were made under Financial Requirement Category A. We can do so again this time but, as it happens, an annual bank statement for my spouse's savings account has just come out. There's enough money in this account for me to qualify under Category D, and we'd like to take this route if possible, since it would simplify the document needs considerably.

We want to make sure we understand correctly how we can apply under Category D. We would appreciate it if someone could check the following to be correct:

  • The bank statement is dated 11 June 2021. Per the 28 day rule, this means we can use this statement in an application until 9 July 2021.
  • The statement shows the initial balance a year ago (already exceeds the required amount under Category D), a list of transactions since (all "In"s, no "Out"s) and corresponding new balances, and the final balance on the closing date. This is evidence enough that the requisite amount of money has been held in this account for the last six months.
  • Apart from this, all we need to submit is a signed declaration from my spouse stating that the source of money is salary (position? employer name? period of service?) plus interest.

Thank you!
My Immigration Timeline:
Spouse visa: Applied online 05-03-2016 / Granted 10-04-2016
Arrival in UK: 01-05-2016
FLR(M): Applied online 11-12-2018 / Granted 08-01-2019 (Super Priority)
SET(M): Applied online 06-07-2021 / Granted 02-08-2021 (Super Priority)
Citizenship: Applied online 24-02-2022 / Approved 22-04-2022 / Granted 18-05-2022
First UK Passport: Applied online 10-06-2022 / Received 15-07-2022

Welcome to the forum.  :)

I'd apply no later than the 8th of July if using that statement. If you want to apply later than that, just have your bank send you the most recent 7 months worth.

As long as the balance did not fall below the amount you are relying on, then it will be perfect.

The declaration does not need to be elaborate, "savings from income" is enough.

Category D is definitely the easiest category to qualify under, and for ILR, you only need to show £34,600 held in the account for 6 months (for the spousal visa and FLR(M), it's £62,500).

Yes, that's correct. 28 days from 11th June is 9th July.

Yes, as long as it shows all the transactions, and that the total balance has not dipped below £34,600 on any day since December 11th 2020, it should meet the requirements.

You don't even need that much detail.

You just need a sentence stating that the savings have been built up over time from income.

Thank you larrabee and ksand24. This reassures us that we can and should go under Category D.

It's definitely the easier category. You have passed the life in the UK test?

Just an update that my Category D application has been successful. Applied on 6 July, had the Biometrics appointment on 2 August at noon, and got reply by the end of the day (super priority).  :D
