Coming soon
« on: August 16, 2021, 10:27:39 PM »
Hi all,

I'm John and I am relocating to Surrey from the US next week (actually leaving the US at this time next Monday)!

Having lots of fun shipping furniture and my car is being picked up tomorrow...  ::)

I'm originally from New England and have worked in professional sports for my entire career -- most recently in the Carolinas. Now I am taking the show on the road. Proverbially speaking, of course.

Would love to make some friendly connection with fellow Yanks when I am abroad. Can never have too many (nor too few).

Oh. And can someone help me out with keeping my US mobile number and not getting fleeced by Verizon or AT&T?

Thanks!

Best,

JK

And the football. Mainly the football.

Are you Ted Lasso?  If you end up in Richmond, you'll notice all the places they filmed.

Welcome to the site.

I didn't bother keeping my US number, there are other cheaper alternatives to having a US number that folks can call. Since moving 5 years ago I pay about $50/year to have a Skype number that is forwarded to my UK mobile phone.

However, if you ask this particular question there will be others with cheaper options such as Google Voice which is free I believe.

Yes. Essentially Ted Lasso.

Thanks for the tips on the phone. I'll probably just turn of the mobile service and people can message me through iMessage on WiFi!

Best,

JK

I use Talkatone. It creates a US number, then all calls use your wifi and you can literally talk for hours. I call and text message, never costs a dime.
