How long to receive SS benefits?
« on: February 02, 2022, 12:37:39 PM »
Hi Folks,

I've put in a claim for SS benefits to be deposited in my UK bank.  The interview over the phone was 25 January and I received a letter confirming my award 1 February.

They said I  should give it 90 days to appear but I am hoping it will be sooner!  What is other people's experience in the length of time until it is actually deposited?

Thanks in advance for your input.

It might depend on the type of benefits, I'm not sure. They have a backlog that's for sure.

I applied for retirement benefits in August last year, (November eligibility), had my interview in mid October, sent all required documents in late October and silence ever since.

I'm about to embark on the ID.me process (separate thread) so I can view my own On-line SS account (& IRS account), which hopefully will give me an up to date status.

It took 4 months from my wife’s interview to receiving her benefits. See details below, but shortly after being told what her benefit would be it was another 4 months.  She would log onto her SS account from July and see that it always said the final approval was in process and would take 2 to 4 weeks.
