Just wanted to provide an update.  We received our decision email this morning.  This is so ironic but we are probably the only family on this forum who doesn't want to get their visa back at this time.  We only found out a few weeks ago (on this forum) that we only have 30 days to move after receiving the visa vs. 3 the months so we are definitely scrambling to donate and sell everything.

Application received by Sheffield:  8/17/16
Confirmation email:  9/20/16
Decision email:  11/1/16

Congrats to you. We have the same confirmation date email, only my app was received by them on July 11th. Still waiting for decision email. How were you able to sort out the airway bill situation then? Did they find your account number?

mev33, thank you.  We just emailed the UPS account number to them again yesterday and that worked.  We also received an email from UPS with tracking number this morning.  I am sure your decision email is coming soon.  It appears people who received their "being prepared" email around 9/20 are starting to get responses.

FYI I received my approved spouse visa in the mail yesterday!  Wow, can't believe it's happening.  We have to travel by 11/24.  My husband and I are planning to travel to the UK to pick up our BRP and head home to get our affairs in order.  We would like to spend the holidays with family in the US and move mid January 2017.

I am so surprised there aren't more decision emails sent.  I hope it picks up soon for everyone.

Greetings all!  congrats to all whose VISAs are arriving!!!

Unfortunately, my application was refused.  We sought help from the MP, who contacted us today and told us they refused our application on 10/25.  I haven't received anything back from them yet.

The reason for the refusal was stated as not meeting the financial requirement.  We meet the amount required, well beyond.  My husband works for himself.  Here are the problems:

The business bank account does not have the business name on it...just his.
The personal bank account does not show evidence of the 'salary' coming into his personal account.
The personal bank account does not show evidence of the 'dividends' coming into his personal account.

All other requirements were met.

I am unsure whether we should appeal, or start from scratch. I am unsure how to resolve this in general.  We just found out today, so we have not reached out to our accountant (who provided all the documentation of taxes, and corporate dividends, etc.). We plan to reach out to the accountant.

Anyone have any experience or advice? Should we get an attorney? The appeal cost is £480 just to look at papers and £800 to have an oral hearing (as of 10 Oct 2016).

Any advice or words of encouragement would be appreciated.  We are pretty bummed out.

Type of visa applied for: Settlement (wife, non-priority)
Date of online application: 25 July 2016
Date biometrics taken: 29 July 2016
Date documentation was received by Sheffield: 1 August 2016
Confirmation email that documents received: 16 September 2016
Decision made: 25 October 2016 (REFUSAL)
Awaiting return of documents.....
