Do you mean mid-July? Hope you hear very soon. How many do apply at once in any given month from US to UK and more broadly to UK? Do we know the figures?

Hi Emily,

Yes sorry meant mid July!

I'm not sure as I don't have stats to hand but up till this point in our heads we'd envisaged that it would only be everyone on this list in the forum completely removing ourselves from the real world. If only!

Going by stats published up to March 2016 about 117 Spouse visas are granted per day but I believe this includes FLR(M) and ILR.
Assuming a natural drop out rate for FLR and ILR it would be reasonable to assume an average of 40-50 first time UK Spouse Visas total are granted each day.

Where are you getting your stats from? 117 per day sounds about right for fiancé/spousal visas only, not for FLR or ILR as well.

The stats for spousal visas, FLR(M) and ILR are published separately under different categories and they are all processed in different offices in different cities/countries.

From the UKVI statistics, they process approximately:

- 38,000 family visas (Entry Clearance) each year, across the world. That's about 160 per day (not just in Sheffield), assuming 20 working days per month

- 56,000 FLR(M) applications each year... which is about 235 per day

- 62,000 ILR applications each year (all applications, not just marriage-based)... which is about 260 per day.

So, if you consider all of the visas together, that's about 655 decisions per working day.

I'm new here! My name is Brenna and I'm from Austin. My husband and two children and I are moving to York hopefully in August. Sheffield recieved my settlement visa application on June 7th, however, we did NOT pay priority. Now I'm thinking that was a big mistake. We would like to arrive in England no later than August 15. From what I've read on this forum, that will be a long shot without priority. Ideally we would get visa in late July so we could book plane tickets a couple weeks before departure. So if anyone can help guide me, I'd like to pay for the priority retroactively (or whatever the expression is)...can anyone give me a link or instructions on how to do this? Do you think it would be worth it or actually even help me speed up the process to get visa by late July? Thanks guys!

Hi Brenna, welcome!  :)

I think the advice would have to be, don't try to upgrade now.
The instructions on the VFS global website, specifically state that it can't be done and although a couple of our members were successful earlier in the year, we have at least one outstanding which has not been honored.
The best thing to do is just hunker down and wait it out, I'm afraid.

Thank you for your quick input. So...without priority, what's the longest I could be waiting? I know 12 weeks is usually max, but realistically, is it possible it could come much sooner and I could still get it in late July? I know no one can say for sure, I'm just feeling really discouraged today :/

We have a non-priority thread somewhere, here it is!  http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=90536.0

I think they have a spread sheet going there.  :)

Last summer non-priority applications took 4-5 months.  Unfortunately Sheffield is processing MANY more countries this year and we are experiencing wait times much longer than last year.  With a bit of luck, they'll stay within the 60 business day target but I would NOT count on it.  We only know historical information and are just estimating this years times to the best of our knowledge.

The UPS truck just left and thank god it was APPROVED! I will be flying out on Monday. Just enough time to frantically pack and see friends and family.

Thanks to everyone here for your help and support! Best of luck to those still waiting!
