Another Scot married to an American husband, who for 10 years in England drove me mad with American football non=stop, and lacrosse in the park! Then we moved here and he is determined to get back to UK asap. He spends all his time watching soccer, and gets mad at the kids if they say gas instead of petrol...oh well. at least we tried it. 10 years was just too long, he's gotten (as they say in this part of the world) too anglicized to adjust back. He did hate bits of living in the UK when we were there. We found having other American friends helped, even if they'd been in the UK for years more. And we'l get the kids a basketball hoop now they're hooked on it. But he misses the civility of England. (hope it's stil there). the orderliness, the politeness, and the school system. that's really what's driving us back. The kids here are treated like idiots unless you want to pay for private academic schools. And we're sick of having syrup/sugar in everything. bring back cheap veggies!
If I think of our friends back in the UK there are a number of US hubbys. you're not alone, and he'll get over it!
