I love me some stinky ole blue cheese! Give me your Roquefort, your Gorgonzola, your Danablu, yearning to be consumed!  :D

Blue cheese is awesome, but I think it's an acquired taste.  I remember hating it. Now, it doesn't stay long in the house. I don't like a lot of pre-prepared blue cheese dressings on either side.  It has to be home made or at least trying to taste home made. I just imagine that Marie stuff that my mom used to love and shudder.  That's not blue cheese dressing.

I love ketchup!  My  new thing is to mix a bit of Cholula into it!  It really 'dresses it up'! [smiley=chef.gif]

Ranch could never be the new ketchup, because ketchup is tomato-y and ranch is not!

 :o  :D

Hmmmm, yum, Cholula.....  :)

FYI for folks in serious Hidden Valley withdrawal...

I've been able to buy Newman's Own Ranch dressing at ASDA in Glasgow lately.  Not sure if it's widely carried by all their major stores, or how long they've been carrying it.

Waitrose and Sainsbury's also carries Newman's Own. I've also found another American brand, Cardinis I think it is called, that has a pretty decent Ranch and Ceasar sald dressing at both stores as well.

Tesco also carries Newman's Own Ranch as well as the Cardini dressings. I've never had either, so I can't vouch for them.

I love Hidden Valley (bottle only for some reason) on salads and for dipping mozz sticks. At Denny's I like dipping my fries in their ranch, but I don't care for any other ranch on fries. While I love ranch, I am picky about what brand I buy or restaurant I order it in.

I also love it on salads in steakhouses. They all seem to have a good one, especially in Lone Star.

You should try pioneer woman's recipe for ranch dressing... I think you'd like it! It's way easy, too.

Ranch is the work of the devil. ;)

Depending upon what I'm eating it's either ketchup, mayo, or bleu cheese. Mmmmm, esp bleu cheese.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I just had a google of the recipe. It looks easy and incredibly yummy! I will definitely have to give it a try soon. :) Thanks! :)

NP. :) would have linked to it, but I can only use internet on my phone atm. ;) The recipe is really ready and wonderful. Very fresh tasting in comparison to preservative filled bottled ranch. I prefer to swap the sour cream to mayo ratio though. I do 2 parts sour cream to 1 part mayo. Even before moving here, my family wasn't buying ranch anymore!

I agree on the Newman's Own "Ranch" Dressing... Blech. Tastes like garlic from what I remember?

Now that I'm back on my computer, here is the PW Ranch dressing recipe for anyone who is interested...

Yeah, it's not the same. I do not like the Newmans Own kind. I'll stick to packets. I don't have the Hidden Valley packets, though. I have the Kroger store brand. Tastes exactly the same for a portion of the price.

I think you're right. I can't stomach it but I think it's the thought of eating actual mold. I know that cheese has mold but actually seeing the blue veins makes me ill.
