Otherwise known as "thongs" sometimes  :o.  Do people wear these very much over in the UK?  My DF hated them until I finally got him to buy a cheap pair at Old Navy and he grew to love them.

I can see that it would not be a very good environment to wear flip flops if it rains all the time.  I'm just asking because I know that over here in the US everyone seems to wear them!  Most of my friends will pull them out as soon as it hits 50F over here.

Do Brits wear flip flops/ sandals in general as much as Americans?  What does everyone think?

I have always hated having my feet enclosed. Probably something Freudian in that  ::)

Anyway, when I lived in the UK I always wore open toed shoes - usually flat sandals, whatever the weather (ok, ok - except for snow. I quite like my toes still attached to my body  ;D). I spent 6 years in Aberdeen at University and lived through -15 degree (celsius) winters, still wearing my open toed shoes.

I got a lot of strange looks and quite a few people asking me how I managed in the cold. The majority of Brits save their sandals and flip flops for summer holidays.

Um...it may not be too cold to wear them in southern England or Wales...but it's feckin' freezin' (most of the time) up here in northern England, and I would imagine in Scotland as well.  Maybe to wear them in the house if you keep your central heat cranked up high enough. ???

I don't have any flip flops but I love my Birkenstock sandals and wear them every day as soon as there's a glimmer of watery sunshine here!!

With the years, she went from Kappas, to Adidas, to Lacoste, to Dunlops . . .  :D

Why wear trousers when trackie bottoms are more comfortable  ;D.
