I love to read most suspense/ thriller books by Iris Johansen. I always have trouble putting down 1 of her suspense/ thriller books.

I've just worked my way through Elizabeth Chadwick's books.  They are all historical novels based between the Norman Conquest in 1066 til the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215.  They are rollicking good reads and a good way into that period of history. She really makes mediaeval politics and intrigue come alive.  I really recommend Shadows and Strongholds and The Greatest Knight....great stuff!

I just bought Circles of Deceit by Nina Bawden, but haven't yet read it. Have you read that one?

I haven't read any Margaret Forster, but I like Margaret Drabble a lot and I absolutely adore Elizabeth Jane Howard. She's definitely one of my all-time favourites. Others would include Elizabeth Bowen, Elizabeth Taylor, Evelyn Waugh, Truman Capote, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Oscar Hijuelos and Oscar Wilde.

Elizabeths and Oscars seem to feature prominently!

Yes I have read Circles of Deceit but it was a long time ago, can't remember much about it now.  If you like those authors I think you'd like Margaret Forster, she focuses a lot on family relationships. Her non fiction is good too.

I'm talking a long time ago, but I loved Charlotte's Web. It made me cry at the end, but it was ultimately uplifting. Even though it's a children's book, I'd be willing to reread it now.

Have you seen the new movie of it? My dad took my daughter to see it and she loved it. She'll be reading the book when she's a wee bit older.

I love her books.  My mom is just finishing one now and then I get it!

Only one (Noughts and Crosses), but I really liked it! I should definitely read more of them.

He's a good writer. He knows the ins and outs of Edinburgh like the back of his hand (since he lives there), and his Inspector John Rebus is an interesting character.
