Thanks for your patience and quick response. He didn't mention religion in the letter as we didn't want it to get more confusing.

Fingers crossed they contact us or his mom (w the info she provided in her letter) for clarification as to why his name is not included in the accommodation permission letter.

They won't contact his mum - I believe they will only contact you... normally by email, if they require further information.

Hopefully the ECO notices the accommodation I have permission for is a) his mom b) there is place for us to live together. But as you said, we've actually given them evidence later in the package that he plans to be across the street till we find a suitable flat together.

I'll just have to wait and see. Thank you :/ <3

Yeah, I'm not sure whether it will be a problem or not. I think the only real issue is that he mentioned he would live in his flat, and he didn't mention the reason for not living together at first.

It's perfectly normal for people to have reasons for not living together at first... it's just that the visa requirement is that you both have permission from the homeowner to live in the same property at the same time (whether that be his mum or his landlord). You might not end up living in either place once you arrive, but that's not the point.

Thank you! I think I have everything answered on the application. Can you let me know if the list below is ok for correspondence? I have so many letters but feel like I am not showing enough with the list below:

Applicant
- Mar 2015 (Feb-May) - SSE Scottish Hydro Electric bill
- Jul 2015 (Jun-Sep) – Pension Statement Letter
- Jan 2016 (Oct-Jan) – O2 Bill
- Mar 2016 (Feb-May) – SSE Scottish Hydro Gas Bill
- Sep 2016 (Jun-Sep) –  Letter from North East Scotland College
- Dec 2016 (Oct-Jan) – SSE Scottish Hydro Electric Bill

Sponsor
- Feb 2015 (Feb-May) – Letter from Sky
- Sep 2015 (Jun-Sep) – Letter from American Express
- Dec 2015 (Oct-Jan) – O2 Bill
- Mar 2016 (Feb-May) – Letter from Aberdeen City Council Tax Bill
- July 2016 (Jun-Sep) – Denplan – Letter confirming dental coverage for both
- Dec 2016 (Oct-Jan) – AXA PPP Healthcare – Letter confirming private healthcare for both

Hi KSand, can you let me know if you think the above correspondence will be okay? I have my in person appointment on Friday.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Hi KSand, can you let me know if you think the above correspondence will be okay? I have my in person appointment on Friday.

Thanks again for all of your help!

The spread of the documents looks okay, but my concern is the second and 5th documents from each of you - as they are dated 2 months apart from each other but should be dated around the same time.

You have:

Document 2
- Jul 2015 (Jun-Sep) – Pension Statement Letter (Applicant)
- Sep 2015 (Jun-Sep) – Letter from American Express (Sponsor)
and
Document 5
- Sep 2016 (Jun-Sep) –  Letter from North East Scotland College (Applicant)
- July 2016 (Jun-Sep) – Denplan – Letter confirming dental coverage for both (Sponsor)

But they should be dated as close together as possible - preferably within a few days of each other, so show you were both at the address in the same month.

The others look okay though because there isn't much gap between the applicant and the sponsor's document for each period.

Ok, understand now. Thank you! I have another question (sorry)...in the application question 6.33: Do you and your sponsor have any shared financial responsibilities? This is a very broad question. Can you elaborate what this means? We rent but my husband pays the rent (tenancy is in both of our names though). I am not sure what to put in this section.

That one is a bit ambiguous - I take it to mean things like legal responsibilities... such as repayment of loans or mortgages that are in both of your names, joint credit cards etc.

However, a lot of people take it to mean things like rent and household bills, and put those down. It's really up to you how you feel it's best to answer the question.

Ultimately, it has no effect or bearing on the application outcome, as it doesn't really matter for the visa whether you have shared financial responsibilities or not.

Thank you! I have another question regarding question 6.21: Have you lived with your sponsor since your marriage or civil partnership?

We married in NYC on the 8th April 2014 and then he returned to the UK on the 20th April 2014 and I submitted my application for my spouse visa. I received my spouse visa in May and moved to the UK in June 2014 and we have lived together ever since.

Would I tick no and then explain the above?

You tick YES and say you have lived together since June 2014, when you arrived in the UK on your spousal visa.

If you say no, you won't qualify for the visa because one of the requirements is that you have lived together for the last 2+ years. If you say no, that implies you haven't been living together in the UK and don't meet the requirements of the visa.

The question is really asking 'have you lived together AT ANY TIME since you got married?' not 'have you lived together from the day you got married?'

They aren't expecting you to have been able to live together from the moment you got married because you lived in different countries and couldn't legally live together yet. The purpose of the question is to make sure you have been living together in the UK since you moved here and therefore meet the visa requirements.
